I still play, I usually play as a Clear Sky member and I do the storyline where I have to find Doc who's somewhere on the Marshes map to receive the start missions that take me all over the Zone.

As a CS member the mercs are friendly and Freedom are enemies, I swap that around as I enjoy having access to the Warehouses base which I use like an fob.

One of great things with COC is it's randomality. You just don't know what's stashed where and on occasion it's taken me day's to find the simplest of items like a detector or a basic tools set.

I keep meaning to move on to playing as a member of other factions but I'm still having too much fun.

I'm playing with the very latest Beta and I have a selection of mods merged into it.

CoC is unique that the "good stuff" wildly varies by the Faction you choose and the starting point you pick. You can start at your home base with easy access to your Faction Trader and Repair Tech meaning quick upgrades for weapons and armors. Want a tougher time? Choose a start location far from your resources and struggle with lesser equipment and weapons. Choose areas that are easier to take tasks and earn money or areas that are hardship and struggle. That's the great thing about CoC, is that there are so many choices.

Some people miss that as you choose your Faction, there are a dozen or so different load outs to start with. Likewise at the beginning when you choose your load out you can accept the random name of your character or input your own. As you earn the friendly "green" acceptance of your own Factions or others, you can start hiring Companions. Choose to go out in the Zone alone or hire several Companions to help you.

While the Game does prod you to certain events if you choose the Story Mode, there is no time limitations to do so. Go where you want and when you want. The expected order of play is what you want it to be. CoC is not a tightly scripted quest where you must go and do this to see some ending. It is an open world, free-play Mod that let's you live your life in the Zone.

Your signature says "EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 (2ea) STRIX Graphics Cards" of which that does not make sense to me. "STRIX" is a trademark line of Asus. Either your video cards are Asus and not EVGA or your EVGA video cards have nothing to do with STRIX. https://www.asus.com/strix/

Hey guys thanks for answering. I have chosen to play the story line. I started out in Jupiter, I think that's it. DUH like I have not played this stalker game like since 2010. lol Still can't remember the names some times. haha.
I am playing ad a loner/ stalker. Though I as ways have liked Freedom. It seems as though I am still not quite accepted yet, still yellow.

Finding the basic has started to be a problem, but finding ammo for the guass rifle is the hardest. I have all the paper work for it like in the vanilla but I still can not get the mech in Jupiter to make the ammo like in the vanilla. It is a bit frustrating to go to were the original repair kits were in the vanilla game only to find that the repair kits are not there. haha.
I will keep on for now as I have only finished one of the shut downs of the zone. That is the one at the Argos map and the Army post.
For now I'm working Freedoms missions in hopes of becoming green with them. I 'll let ya know lol.
Oh by the way glad to see that you two are still around.

You aren't going to find any of the tool kits just laying around. That's just in Call of Pripyat. In Call of Chernobyl they are found in activated states. You get stashes activated by killing people and searching the dead or as a reward when you complete tasks when you are given money and a possible stash activation. Not all rewards include a stash activation so don't expect one every time.

Starting out in Jupiter or Zaton is a hardship Game for a Loner. This is because there are almost no stash activations in the levels used from CoP. As CoP had open air stashes and not physical stashes like Clear Sky or SoC, most all the stash activations are south of Jupiter. If you had started in the Cordon or Rostok, you would be swimming in stash activations.

However your situation is not all bad for your other problem. No one is going to sell you Gauss Gun ammo. If you play as a Monolith, the Monolith Trader sells it but no one else ( AFAIK ) so your only hope is through looting. As you probably don't have the armor and weapon upgrades to go deep into Monolith territory to loot there, your best bet is killing small patrols of Monolith carring Gauss Guns & RPGs mostly found in Zaton and rarely in Jupiter. Likewise the Monolith at the unfinished building in Limansk have several Gauss Guns & RPGs too. That's it. You're not going to collect enough for sustained operations. Just enough over time for a couple of one-time assaults if you go to the CNPP or Pripyat.

As soon as you get your own Faction ( or others ) friendly "green" then you can hire Companions to accompany you. However be warned that hiring Companions of a different Faction means they may not be welcome in all the same places you want to go. You can't take Freedom to Duty, Mercenary or Clear Sky territory.

Hey there Mr. Tejas, I have found what you say to be true. haha. Any way it's still fun running around and finding and doing. I am friends with the scientists in Jupiter and Loners. Yes I did take a freedom guy to Jupiter science lab and ran into big trouble. lol
I was afraid of that about the Gauss ammo so I guess I'll just keep popping monoliths haha.
Hey and thanks for the info. I will be calling on you a lot.
Have a great day and great gaming.

dr22~

I started this thread about playing a Game of SoC on a Laptop with some basic Modding but another Forum Member who I recommended CoC to, started a conversation about his CoC game too where I was giving pointers and advice. You may want to read the CoC elements here that I just now added to:

CoP COC Is anyone still playing this?

I haven't played my Monolith Game since November 2017 and it's now March 2018. I've been playing SoC 1.0006 on my new Gaming Laptop and coming back to this Game was a total disorientation of everything from the key commands, the larger screen size and what I was doing. All I remembered it was time to get back to Pripyat, I had a full load of Mutant parts I needed to sell and no one I meet has any money to buy them. Upon arriving back in Pripyat, several Mutants decided to throw me a party.

Wow
It's been a while since I was last here.
Hope all is well with you guys (& gals) still devoted to this game.

Last mod I downloaded was Misery.
Played it many times using all three base characters and I'm now looking for something new.
Any recommendations?
