I agree with Tejas, you only need the CS-1 and the SEVA to play CS, upgrading them as you earn the money. The only other suit I ever bought and upgraded was the Bulat, which I hauled in my inventory through Limansk and the abandoned Hospital, saving it exclusevly for the last NPP level. If you intend to do some exploring of that last level, hopping through teleports that lead to roofs and walkaways crowded with militaries an upgraded Bulat with +60 bullet protection and a stamina artifact can come very handy. Be sure to get rid of all the extra weight beforehand though

Location of a SEVA Suit?

There's only two CS Armors in the Unmodded Game.
The CS-1 and the CS-3a. If there is a 3rd Suit as you say,
it has no name I know and it's only available through Modding.

Location of a SEVA Suit?

The Guy next to me is wearing the same suit. CS-1 with 60 BP.
I carried it with me most of the entire Game with my SEVA until
I got 2 fully upgraded 3rd Tier SEVAs. One Environmental SEVA
and the other an Armor SEVA. The Bulat & Berill Armored Suits
are turds with only 2 Artifact Slots unlike the CS-1 that has three.

Thats what I hate about the Bulat. Of course in my version of the game it comes with five artifact containers

The armor you have is this one:

The guy in front of you has a different one that looks heavier. I added it to my game.

Not the best, but severely underrated for sure. The guy next to you has a better suit that you can't get though

That's still modifying, but I'm glad to know you won't have to restart your game when doing that. I always thought otherwise

you don't need a mod, just find the \configs\misc\outfit.ltx

LINE 1017 or so

[exo_outfit]
sprint_allowed = true

no new game required.

if you haven't unpacked your database yet use this:
http://stalker.filefront.com/file/Clear_Sky_Game_Database_Unpacker;93774

instructions included. when you're done just copy the upacked gamedata folder into another folder on your hard drive. don't keep it in your stalker directory. then you'll always have the vanilla files to work with.

Most mods allow you to run with the Exoskeleton, I use my own named CS Remix but it is in need of an update (I have one just about ready). If you use a mod, you'll have to start a new game, so I recommend saving it for next time.

If you join a faction, I recommend doing so late in the game, right after you secure the bridge to Limansk. This way you'll be well equipped, and Limansk is a point of no return. In Limansk and beyond you won't see Freedom or Duty, except for lots of their dead bodies. Enemies won't matter anymore.

If you join Freedom, you can get an Exoskeleton for free, after taking the Duty base. If you join the Loners or Duty, you'd have to pay 55000 RU for the suit, and the Bandits will be your enemies. A group of expert Bandits hold a building in Limansk, with excellent weapons and armor piercing bullets. They help you kill the Monolithians, but you don't want them against you

The flodding of the underground? I don't think that's happened yet. Do I have to advance the main story further, maybe?

I guess not. Where are you up to by the way? Its a pricey suit as well, so beware. Definitely go for all the artifacts first, sell the unneeded ones to Sakharov, and then you can buy yourself a nice suit.

As stated earlier, the following people sell them.

- Loner trader in the Cordon or Agroprom, but as you know, you must have conquered the Bandits first.

- Duty trader, after doing General Krylov's mission which involves flooding the Agroprom Underground.

- Tooth, the Bandit trader, sells one as well, but you may have to join the Bandits in order for them to do so.

No stash contains the suit, unlike in Shadow of Chernobyl. You'll have to buy it, or as you may know, join the Loners and eliminate all of the Bandits in return for a free SEVA suit.

The SEVA suit has poor durability but great anomaly and radiation protection. After extensive upgrading, it can have even better anomaly protection but with the same mediocre bullet/splinter protection and poor durability. You can upgrade its durability and bullet protection, but you'd end up keeping the stock anomaly protection if you plan on tier 3 upgrades. You can equip five artifact containers after upgrading, as well as the second generation night vision module.

You may want to invest in a "Bulat" Armored Suit instead, which offers much greater durability and bullet/splinter protection. Anomaly/radiation protection are good as well, but it is heavier and can only have two artifact containers (it comes with none I believe). Duty has their own version of the suit, which is very similar, but offers slightly better anomaly protection, and slightly less rupture protection. I'm not sure whether both suits are equipped with night vision or not, but I don't think you can get the second generation night vision module for the suits. Please correct me if I'm wrong. The Bulat suit can be purchased from Sakharov, the Duty trader, and the secret Duty trader in the Red Forest. As for Duty's edition, I think you have to join Duty so that you can buy it. You get it for free after eliminating Freedom.

The Exoskeleton is probably the most popular suit, since you can carry over 100 kg in weight when upgraded, it can regenerate your stamina, and regenerate your health. Its durability is unmatched, both night vision modules are available, its bullet protection is the best, anomaly/radiation protection is decent, and you can use three artifact containers after upgrading (it comes with one). Freedom has their own edition, which you can get for free after joining duty and eliminating Duty. Please note you cannot sprint with either suit, and you must be in a faction in order to buy it. I haven't seen Sakharov sell it in this version.

Each suit has their ups and downs, the SEVA suit is definitely a great choice as well as the others. I prefer the Exoskeleton myself, I use my own mods for the game and I can sprint with it. Now you know how to acquire each of these suits, so now you can get working on it
---END QUOTATION---

Wow! Thanks for the post! So the SEVA suit offers the best anomaly protection, but the exoskeleton offers the best protection in a fight, correct? I think by the end of Shadow I was carrying around both suits and switching between them as needed. (By then, I had just about everything I could want plus a nice stack of cash, so I was no longer scavenging and could afford to not pick up most items for re-sale.)

Another point, armor-related, since you mention the Duty and Freedom armors: should I join a faction, and if so, which one is recommended for my first play-through? The exoskeleton sounds like the way to go, but the sprinting concerns me, which brings me to:

Out of curiosity, what is the mod that allows you to run with the exoskeleton, and can it be added after a game has been started or does a new game need to be started in order to use it?
