...

What does that do exactly?

turns off the AA. (Anti Aliasing)

almost... it turns off Multisample anti-aliasing. which, unless you're fucking superhuman you won't notice any visual difference in CS.

what you WILL notice however if you are normal or even above normal is just the performance drain it puts on your system if it's left on.
---END QUOTATION---

I have to do this also in dx9? or i just need to put it off ingame settings and drivers (like SHOC) ?

regards.

no it doesn't apply to DX 9. only if you run DX 10.

Casshern1981b that really only helps load times. it's been said to actually increase stutter in game if you use that switch

I'll just remove it then, that's why CS is stuttering, notice that SOC did not stutter, Thx Bacon !

Hey guys quick question (well maybe not quick): I currently running a AMD Athlon x2 4200+ w/ 1.5G DDR 400 (Dual Channel) and a Asus 521mb EAH3870 (operating system is Vista 32). I can barely run stalker on dynamic objects lighting or whatever (second setting), the frame rate is terrible. This is a fresh install of Vista and there is not much on the computer, is this normal in your experience? Also, when I turned on DX10 mode for shits and giggles everything gets all stripey and not right looking.

So, to combat this I went out and ordered a Q6600 w/ a shitty entry level mobo (PC Chips P55G v1.0) and 4 gigs of ddr2 800 super talent ram. Do you think this will be enough to run at near highest settings? I am going to try to optimize all this stuff with tweak guides too and plan to reformat with a fresh copy of either vista ultimate or xp pro. Is there a way yet to activate the DX10 features on XP? If so I will probably use that as it is less of a ram hog...

yeah it will help.

one note though. Vista 32 bit won't use all of that ram the 32 bit OS is limited to utilizing up to 3 gb. it's a limitation of using any 32 bit OS. you can install 4 GB and Vista will see it but not use that extra gig. so unless you are getting a package deal on the ram you are wasting your money.

Yeah its a package deal =/ I heard that Vista 32 supports up to 4 gigs, elsewhere, but I guess it was wrong? Is there anyway to make vista recognize or use it? What about xp, how many gigs does that use?

It's the same with both Vista and XP, if you have 32bit versions of them you can't use all 4Gb. Only way to be able to use all the ram is to install Vista or XP 64bit.

I have XP 32bit and I can use 3Gb of 4Gb ram. I think it depends on the other stuff in the PC, if the graphicscard has 512mb memory you can use 3,5Gb, but i have 2 GPU's so maybe thats the reason i can only use 3Gb?

Because i have heard you usually can use 3,5.

Maybe the stuff above makes no sense, im so tired.

slightly irrelevant if you are axing this system but in the meantime: how are you running 1.5Gb dual channel?

you need two matching sticks for a dual channel and then another two for another dual channel. you seem to have either 1Gb stick plus two 512Mb's or three 512Mb's??

if they are all 512's you should get another and run two dual channels. fyi if you keep/pass on that system.

hmm. quad core for CSky? it will only use the one core. i would change it if you can for a C2D with a higher per core clockrate.

run vista64. RAM is cheap but as mentioned, under XP you would lose one of your 4Gb.

actually, if you were feeling adventerous you could dual boot XP (DX9) and Vista64 to check out all the DX10.
