gamedata to db - xrCompress|
I searched a way to compress mod gamedata files to db files, and here are the results.
The official tool, xrCompress can compress the gamedata files a little, and cuts it into maximum 670 MB sized db files, which CS engine can use.
The xrCompress, which comes with the SDK, is tuned to compress maps to db form for multiplayer. But i tweaked a little the options ltx, and figured out, how to compress gamedata to db form, which you can use for SP too.
It can be handy for modders, to provide their mod in db form, or for players, who play with complex mod gamedata (more gigabyte). You can get from a 2-3 GB sized gamedata a few hundred MB size minus, and the game engine supposed to run faster with binary db files (don't expect too much here...).
Download tool for CS:
Usage: unzip all files to a separate folder, copy the mod gamedata over the empty gamedata folder. Look into xrCompress_options.ltx, and edit, if necessary (some explanations there). Run compress_gamedata.cmd.
You should get a file named gamedata.xdb0 (xdb1,xdb2 etc. if the size exceeds 670 MB) after the process.
1.5.10 patch is xpatch_10.db, so rename the gamedata.xdb0 file to xpatch_11.db (...12, ...13 etc), and drop it into CS\patches folder, and play the game as usual.
