A Day in the Marsh

Headed east from the Clear Sky base to retrieve a cache under the Southern Farm bridge. Uneventful until I passed the Old Church and then I heard the sounds of an approaching pseudogiant.

I retreated to the church and once inside was attacked by boars, fleshies and the pseudogiant. I killed the boars and fleshies and climbed the ladder to the bell tower to escape the pseudogiant. The pseudogiant got bored and left. As I started down the ladder, a soldier appeared and I shot him. A cache marker appeared in the church and I climbed to the top to search for it. Then I heard a helicopter rapidly approaching so retreated down into the church to hide. The helicopter hovered to the south. I went to the brick arch at the front of the church and could see the helicopter and shot it down. I then climbed to the top of the church and located the cache.

I went east around the pseudogiant and retrieved the cache under the bridge and headed for the Burnt Farmstead. Past the cemetery, I was ambushed by an army patrol. I shot the first soldier and three were behind him. As I attacked the two to the left, a pseudogiant appeared and attacked the one to the right. I ran to the two soldiers that I had shot and retrieved their weapons and supplies. The pseudogiant came after me. I ran toward the Burnt Farmstead but a second pseudogiant appeared in front of me so I ran to the east and up a tree. From the tree, I was able to kill both pseudogiants. I retrieved the weapon and supplies from the soldier killed by the pseudogiant and found a Kolobok in the stream.

I went to the Burnt Farmstead and gave the lone Clear Sky squad leader some supplies. I noticed a soldier by the building with the burn anomaly and shot him. He was standing next to the bodies of a Clear Sky member and a stalker. I headed north to deal with the soldiers in the LZ where the helicopter had dropped them.

Four soldiers were in the LZ and I shot them and retrieved their weapons and supplies. I headed to the Machine Shop to check in with the Clear Sky squad and to check my stash. The Clear Sky squad had been pilfering my stash again. An emission started. I moved to a shelter spot and was attacked by two boars and a bloodsucker. I killed them and waited for the emission to end. As soon as the emission ended, I had to sleep and used my sleeping bag.

All of the Clear Sky squad except for the squad leader had been killed in the mutant attack. When I walked out of the building, a helicopter attacked. I hid behind the corner of the building and the helicopter moved to the south and hovered. I walked around the building and shot down the helicopter. I saw that the helicopter had dropped another squad in the LZ. I headed west to the bridge and shot a bandit at the bridge. When I reached the bridge, another emission started and I ran back to the shelter and waited for the emission to end.

Then I headed west crossing the bridge to get to the LZ. At the LZ, I shot the four soldiers and grabbed their weapons and supplies. My PDA showed two more individuals detected. I walked a bit west to a small anomaly pocket by the LZ. Stalkers often hang out there. There was a soldier with a sniper rifle who I shot and a second soldier with another sniper rifle killed by an anomaly. I retrieved their weapons and supplies and picked up two Stone Flowers from the anomaly. I made a quick detour to the west to retrieve a stash on an island. I never found the second person detected by my PDA.

I headed back to the LZ and south to the Burnt Farmstead and then to the Fishing Village. On the way, I picked up a Goldfish. As I approached the Fishing Village, I started receiving PSY emissions. I crossed the bridge and there was a burer to the right. I went over to the burer and politely asked her to knock it off. One more mutant part for the bag. The Clear Sky squads in the Fishing Village had completely ignored the burer. I headed back to the Clear Sky base to clear my inventory.

A Day in Agroprom

About 6AM at the Stalker base, there was an emission. After the emission, I needed to sleep and used my sleeping bag. I left the base by the west entrance and headed to the southeast border outpost.

At the outpost, there was a bandit attack which the Duty squad repulsed. (The following might be out of order.) There was an attack by a hoard of mutants... boars, fleshies, dogs and a bloodsucker. We killed the monsters and one Duty member died in the effort. Then an emission occurred and, afterwards, I had to sleep and used my sleeping bag.

I worked north up the fence line to avoid the pseudogiant on top of the hill and found a Bandit body by a tree. Crossing the crest of the hill, I could hear a battle. The Duty squad from the border outpost had come up the northern slope of the hill to attack the monsters. I rushed to help the nearest Duty member and we were attached by a hoard of mutants including dogs, boars, fleshies, a chimera and a bloodsucker. The monsters were killed but the Duty member died also. Around the hill, I found the other bodies of the Duty squad and monster carcasses and a Stalker body. A poltergeist appeared which I killed. The pseudogiant remained at the top of the hill watching the action. I then went to check the eastern Duty border outpost which was now empty except for one Duty body.

I walked to the Railroad Tunnel entrance and met a bandit. As we were talking, another hoard of mutants attacked... boars, fleshies, snorks and a bloodsucker. We killed the monsters but the bandit died in the battle. An emission started and I went into the tunnel to wait for the end. After the emission, a boar attacked me in the tunnel and I had to sleep and used my sleeping bag.

I returned to the Stalker base to clear my inventory and was back by 10PM.

It's certainly sounding more and more interesting. It sounds like the sleep needs tweaking as well as the food issue you mentioned. I haven't got back to this for a couple of days but I will this weekend.

JimByr wrote a post not long ago outlining the basic set of to do's.

As you start head out the cave and straight across the river to a large tunnel entrance There's a chap in there and loads of decipherable text. Theres a lot of it so read slowly and take it in, that along with JimByr's post will give you enough info to get going.

I don't know if this is intentional or broken code but is irritating. I was in Dark Valley and had three blowouts happen one after the other. The second happened about 10 minutes game time after the first and the third almost immediately after the second.

Earlier, in Garbage, I had a second blowout happen minutes after the first. I then went directly to the trader at the Stalker base in Agroprom. While I was talking to him, a blowout occurred and a second happened a few minutes later.

Not exactly good game mechanics.

I see some association between blowouts and sleeping. Sleeping often follows a blowout but not always and you can have the need to sleep anytime.

I changed the request from Milutin for parts for 16 mutants to parts for 14 mutants (in the latest translation). I collected the parts for the 14 normal mutants and asked Milutin and he said that I was done.

There is a part for spiders in the mutants table but I have encountered no spiders. And there is no part for a 16th mutant in the file.

The Hospital is nuts. I don't know why mod designers choose to do such things and it serves no purpose. While I can survive, I don't see how you can search for the recorder between the endless mutants and the frequent blowouts and you have no help from your PDA since there is no map (unless I'm missing something).

At this point, I have all artifacts, all mutant parts and 10 recorders. I might bypass the Hospital and go on to the NPP to see how the gameplay goes there.

So is it 12 recorders in total then? Are the last 2 the hospital and npp or are there more? Also I have been updating on my modb page with the links your supplying, I hope that's okay. I'm working on something at the minute and can't get to play this at the moment so I'm keeping track of what you say and mention for when I get the time. It sounds like you've done the largest part of it now.

That's what Milutin says.
"Total placed 12 recorders - one for each territory."

I have 10 and do not have those for the Hospital and NPP. I see the NPP recorder in my PDA. Have no idea where the Hospital recorder is located.

I've actually been into the hospital twice. I came out after the first visit to get my armor repaired and to scrounge more ammo and went in again and got overwhelmed and came back out.

I'm back in Cordon for the moment helping the stalkers and recovering from my visit to the Hospital.

While passing through the Swamp, I saw that the army has moved south from the LZ to the Burnt Farmstead.
