I actually think I know why agent dies.

I've said before that Agent gets killed by mutants.
Now, more detailed answer would be this..

When you enter cordon there are 5 dogs slowly walking over the road, just barely out of the reach of MG gunner. If you take a look at them, they are slow, blind, and don't see you at all. But they are going STRAIGHT to the Agent. So this time I've killed them FIRST, right away when I've entered level.. and so Agent lives to see another day..

Thought I'd bump this thread...

In my current game (patch 1.5.10) I found the agent alive even after I got the coordinates for Sidorovich's case. Some dogs where moving very close to him though, there must be some scripting preventing them from attacking him. I killed them, just in case.

I tried visiting the agent with the dead military's PDA (from the teleportation anomaly tunnel), and also with Sid's case, but the agent didn't care.

A little later while I was escording Hound (the Bandit hostage) back to the village I took a detour to see the agent. After that Hound uses the same collection of greetings as the agent (or has he always had them?).

Around the same time it appears Khaletskiy's driver got killed by passing stalkers.

According to configs, you are supposed to recieve a stash info from the Agent, however, its bugged just like the Driver. He's also part of a cut mission involving siding with the Military and attacking the stalker camp, instead of the stalkers attacking the Military.

How did you find out about that? It sounds a bit odd, considering one of his greeting lines is "Hi! Stay close to us stalkers, 'cause the bandits and the army are too uptight these days."

The dialogs exist for it in the database files, but are never used. They never got further than the dialogs. Makes the Military Warehouses a whole lot easier. Walk in, use their radio, continue. Let Freedom take over it themselves.
His lines like that since the army most likely uses the regular stalker dialogs, which are set as default.
 
Each word should be at least 3 characters long.
