Found him! he's in Cordon. He doesn't look like a regular merchant though, and is only selling vodka/bread/sausage etc.... was hoping for a military trader, lol.

Personally I think it is Sidorovich - fat git has to be paying off the military to get his stuff in (or he does in the novel I'm writing)

Huh? Never saw military at that place, not early in game, and certainly not later on. Later Loners hold the spot, and before that it's empty or mutant infested..

Btw, put textures to highest (Video options-> advanced->texture details) so you can actualy read the labels in those maps..

I've been there loads of time and he's dead - always - as soon as I come into the Cordon he's dead - never seen him alive.

I always wondered why theres a dead military solider there.

The dialogs with Khaletskiy's driver, the request for a pistol from him and the character of Khaletskiy's Agent, point definitely to a storyline cutoff, the one that gives you the option to get into good relations with the military. the driver has never asked fro a pistol off me - is this after you've agreed to kill all the loners with him to release Khaletskiy - cos that's just suicide

lux: I know if I set the textures to highest the labels become clear, but my comp can't run CS with textures maxed, and I know what the labels say anyway, so I leave them as it is.

Major Khaletsky's Agent

The Driver wanting a Pistol is just a trick. With a Weapon in his hand
he will just disappear as quick as the Major. It's just like Hound who
will not move after rescuing him unless you give him a Pistol, Rifle or
Shotgun. Remember in SoC you could have a Pistol so worn down it
would not even fire and display the "Red Broken Pistol" on your HUD?
I had thought about giving the Driver a broken Pistol but I can't seem
to wear one down enough to see if this makes any difference giving the
Driver a broken Pistol so he can't shoot you. I don't believe anyone has
found the 3rd Flash Drive even after the 1.5.07 Patch. Someday...

I believe you only get the 3rd flash drive as part of the reward for destroying the bandits

Well, a lot of people killed bandits and their base, and got reward - but noone (except you) said that they god the flash drive.. And you say you got two of them, which is even weirder

that was on a game that was started in 1.5.05 - I've restarted since 1.5.07 - I found two flash drives in Cordon - one at the entrance to the Swamps and the other on a solider in the Military - I'm assuming that the other is given as a bonus for killing bandits similar to the last flash drive for Freedom is given as a bonus for destroying Duty.

Umm... I've never killed Duty (in my regular game with 1.5.04/1.5.05) and I had all flash drives. Are you sure about this?

Btw, guys, I have more screenies of Major's agent. He always tells one line and than you can just say like "bye".. but each time he has different line Well, ok, not EACH time, but he has some 15-20 "hello" sentences But he doesn't react to anything that's happening in game..

Oh, yeah, this time I've killed mutants right away, so he stays alive

You know I'm egtting the feeling that certain things in th egame are randomised at first but stay no matter how many times you play - such as the location of flash drives, what you get as a bonus and whether the agent is alive or dead.

I'm sure a complete fresh re-install would change the variables but just starting a new game wont change things.

I actually think I know why agent dies.

I've said before that Agent gets killed by mutants.
Now, more detailed answer would be this..

When you enter cordon there are 5 dogs slowly walking over the road, just barely out of the reach of MG gunner. If you take a look at them, they are slow, blind, and don't see you at all. But they are going STRAIGHT to the Agent. So this time I've killed them FIRST, right away when I've entered level.. and so Agent lives to see another day..

Thought I'd bump this thread...

In my current game (patch 1.5.10) I found the agent alive even after I got the coordinates for Sidorovich's case. Some dogs where moving very close to him though, there must be some scripting preventing them from attacking him. I killed them, just in case.

I tried visiting the agent with the dead military's PDA (from the teleportation anomaly tunnel), and also with Sid's case, but the agent didn't care.

A little later while I was escording Hound (the Bandit hostage) back to the village I took a detour to see the agent. After that Hound uses the same collection of greetings as the agent (or has he always had them?).

Around the same time it appears Khaletskiy's driver got killed by passing stalkers.

According to configs, you are supposed to recieve a stash info from the Agent, however, its bugged just like the Driver. He's also part of a cut mission involving siding with the Military and attacking the stalker camp, instead of the stalkers attacking the Military.

How did you find out about that? It sounds a bit odd, considering one of his greeting lines is "Hi! Stay close to us stalkers, 'cause the bandits and the army are too uptight these days."

The dialogs exist for it in the database files, but are never used. They never got further than the dialogs. Makes the Military Warehouses a whole lot easier. Walk in, use their radio, continue. Let Freedom take over it themselves.
His lines like that since the army most likely uses the regular stalker dialogs, which are set as default.
 
Each word should be at least 3 characters long.
