Well, i'm not a texture guru, but for what you're asking, your texture needs to include alpha's, and you will need the SDK to import the texture and have it to include alpha's.

I won't go through the steps in full detail, but make it a TGA file, put the file into the SDK import folder on the X drive, and then in the SDK you can search for new textures, and in the texture properties there will be an option which will include alpha's on the texture, then you click ok, the texture is converted to a dds and put into the the sdk gamedata file along with an updated textures.ltx file, and you copy those across to the appropriate directories in your main stalker folder.

Sorry I can't go much more detailed, but that is the run through of what you need to do.
Maybe someone else can take more time to be more specific.

Actually it's much easier than that. Go to Nvidia's website and search for the dds developer tools. They're free. Install them into Photoshop. Now you can open the textures from SoC or make new ones and save them back into the game. Obviously it's best to work from another folder.

Easiest to start with one from the game as a template. Look in the channels palette and at the bottum you will see one called alpha. Thats your transparency. If all you want is a bright red dot in the middle of your scope you make the parts white that you want solid on screen and black where you want transparency. Greys make things partially trancparent. So fill the glass part of your scope with the color you want and in the alpha make that area black or mostly black with a white dot in the middle.

Hope this helps.
