Help with merging mods!

Hello all,

I've recently got back into the series and am craving some kind of free to play faction war. I've found The Faction War and I've installed it, but after playing Complete, Misery etc. I am craving all the extras! Things like weapon textures, HUD alterations, cross hairs, scopes, actor meshes/skins. I'm wondering if anybody could help me merge most of those things without losing/crashing The Faction War. Hopefully it's not too hard?

Thanks!

For most of the textures, you could just copy/replace without issue. I always make a big backup of the vanilla textures in case something goes poop, like a model has textures mapped differently.

Just don't replace the UI folder directly, as many mods have custom arrangements for different icons and hud elements that won't translate unless you also modify their respective config files. I don't have enough knowledge about the latter to help you

And for things like weather, you could probably easily replace the skybox textures, but to have similar weather you would have to edit the weather config files, which is a bit more of effort.

Sounds are also as easy as textures in general. Just keep in mind that if a mod author had rearranged content, like what sounds are referenced in a weapon's config, then it may not necessarily know to load the sound file you've placed, if it still has the vanilla name.

Hope this helps a little, though it is kind of basic advice
