Porting the COP Protecta

I'm trying to add the Protecta from COP to CS. I am using KingFriday's SRAP animations for the Protecta but each time I equip the weapon the game crashes with the following error:

[error]Expression : pm->m_animations.size()
[error]Function : player_hud_motion_container::load
[error]File : E:\priquel\sources\engine\xrGame\player_hud.cpp
[error]Line : 92
[error]Description : motion not found [protecta_reload]

Well, I opened up all of my wpn_hand mesh files and hex-edited the relevant hud hand animation into them but I am still getting the error. Here is my weapon config file: http://pastebin.com/dvWPHjpR

Any ideas? PS: I get the same error with the COP vanilla weapon mesh files.

Hi, I believe it has something to do with one of those mesh files needing a bit of modification. I remember Setakat managed to port it to Clear Sky. Might be worth dropping him a message.

Okay, thanks for replying. I'll have a look at the meshes SetaKat used for The Zone's Call.

Here this should work. Its a port of OWR's protecta. I think the anims came from KingFriday.

I've also been working on porting over alot of other weapons and animations to CS. Its not ready yet but I have an alpha/beta release up on the site.

I do recall that if there is an animation that fails to be detected for a weapon, but the mesh folder for that gun has everything, then it almost absolutely sure means that the animation is in the hands_animation.omf file (may not be spelled correctly). This certain file seems to have at least some bit of animations for almost all of the weapons. However, I'm not an expert, but you probably have to do some kind of merging.

There are probably no references in vanilla CS hands ogf files to wpn_hand_protecta_hud_animation.omf. So the engine cant find motion for hands even if the omf is in the right place. Simply use whole folder meshes\dynamics\weapons\wpn_hand from vanilla COP\COP mod you are porting weapons from.

Thanks, but there are no working meshes in the archive, and those are what I really need, I think.

I know, which is why:

I don't know why hex-editing the animation path into the CS wpn_hand files doesn't work.

That did the trick, thanks.
