Fixed-up ironsights: WIP

Many of the ironsight positions are pretty crappy. I'm in the process of fixing them since I haven't seen it done yet. I've started with the Spas12 and the Winchester since they were just a travesty.

Spas12:

Winchester:

I've also added a new sound for the Spas so that it doesn't have the same firing sound as the Winchester. I recommend using Gosuke's Winchester animations, just merge the w_wincheaster1300.ltx in his mod with mine using winmerge or some other tool.

more to come...

Here's the rest of the weapons fixed. Note the screenshots show the crosshair in ironsight mode, this is just to show that the ironsights are now properly aligned to the crosshair. The files in the zip below do not have crosshairs enabled in ironsight mode.

The rest of the rifles are already good, so I didn't change them.

Great idea! Would it be possible to fix the regular weapon positions as well? I've just started playing, and the weapons are just so ridiculously close to the actor's face that it's not even fun.

Well, I remember changing the weapon positions for SOC. I really did not like the way they looked in that game, but in Clear Sky, I'm pretty pleased with their positions on screen. Any changes to the existing positions would also mean re-adjusting the iron sight positions, again. It's actually quite tedious. I would however love to see someone fix the grenade launcher attachments so that they are more like those in SOC. This, however, would require someone with animation skills...*cough*...Gosuke...*cough*...

@DevochkaApokalipsisa

Your welcome!

There is a fov changer. http://stalker.filefront.com/file/FOV_Switcher;96413

You can also move the weapon forward, backward, up, down by changing the settings in the weapons files. You can also change the scope_zoom_factor so that the weapon isn't enlarged/doesn't zoom in as much when using iron sights.

Nice job!.

First the good news: I tested this in all sixteen resolutions that the game offers on my machine and it worked perfectly in seven of them.

Now the bad news: it did not work in the other nine.

And the really bad news (is actually my conclusion): if no single set of numbers can align weapon ironsights correctly accross all supported resolutions, then this is an annoying little bug that cannot be corrected outside of the C/C++ code.

The only workarounds that I can see is (a) don't use the ironsights, (b) limit playing to the subset of resolutions that work correctly, or (c) create multiple sets of resolution specific configuration files.

In case it matters I am running DX10.1 with a 24 inch widescreen.

The seven resolutions where these alignments worked correctly in my testing were:
1600x1200
1360x1024
1280x1024
1280x960
1152x864
1024x768
800x600

The nine resolutions where these alignments did not work correctly in my testing were:
1920x1200
1920x1080
1680x1050
1440x900
1360x768
1280x800
1280x768
1280x720
848x480

The ironsight fixes so far are all for only 4:3 resolutions. They have to be manually re-aligned for 16:9 and 16:10. You would need a set of ironsight fixes for each supported aspect ratio.
