Bump.
I'm trying to move an mesh in the Actor editor in Engine mode so I can get a close up look at it and inspect an error, but for some reason the mesh doesn't want to seem to move. Can anyone instruct me on what to do here?

I'm more specifically interested in being able to recompile SoC maps to use CS shaders. If I can add the level(s) to the level.ini file and open them this way, it'll work just as well.

Hopefully this way will work then (never tried as I'm only really interested in the actor editor). You can probably change any incorrect shaders via hex-editing by the way, although it may be a bit of a pain.

yup, the sdk gives me some trouble also.

i have 3 stiking points. ive seen others do these things im stuk on. nvm

yes, the hex way is simler and ok. i did a few that way for my levels.

SDK's with stalker have been a mess from day one. i dont know why.
i suppose if they did give us a sdk, all thats missing is our own engines, then we have full games. i dont know.

oh, wait. i did get it going, oh @#$t. lol. morning bongs are bad.

its most of the extractors i have problems with. oh and fluffy22's above.

I tried several permutations of various options in ACT, but none of them worked under Vista. More than likely it's possible to get the SDK working using this method, but the instructions posted on both the English & Russian Wiki's for Win7 don't work for Vista.

fluffy: editors\level.ini:
recent_files_0 = "v:\9 - cs x-ray sdk\editors\maps\aaa.level"

Although you won't be able to use, for example export functions of Actor Editor...

Even though that admin thing is new to me (as I disabled UAC when I started using Win 7), correctly configuring a fix database in Application Compatibility Toolkit makes Open/Save dialogs working correctly across all SDK applications on Win 7...

Clear Sky SDK on Window's Vista

Ok, after some mucking around, I've got it to start, and turned up a few things.
Getting it to start:
Start Menu -> All Programs -> XRay SDK -> Level Editor, right mouse click and select 'Run As Admin'. This gets it to start without CTD's. Setting its properties to automatically run as Admin has proved unreliable.
As is, going to File -> Open (or Save) does absolutely nothing. The Program continues running, but no dialog shows. Installing the Application compatibility fix as per Win 7 causes the SDK to ctd silently generating no error log when attempting to use the Open or Save buttons.
I'm fairly sure I remember someone here saying there is a recently opened files list somewhere within the SDK folders, can someone confirm this, and if possible, tell me where it is.

CS; wouldn't this be the wrong place to ask about the SoC SDK?

What version of SDK you are using? SOC or CS?

SDK questions

I've been mucking with the X-Ray SDK, and I have a couple questions:

-Is the config/ folder under gamedata supposed to be configs/ ?

fsgame.ltx does have $game_config$ set to config/, so I presume it's intentional, but I want to know if there's a reason WHY.

-If I wanted to have a consolidated gamedata folder for modding, would there be a problem with importing the game data from my CS installation on top of the gamedata/ folder of the SDK?

(This is part of why I want to know about configs/ vs config/ -- is there a reason for there to be 2 different folders holding similar configuration files for different uses?)
