Berreta question

Ive noticed that when using the Beretta handgun you always look down the sight, whereas most other handguns you don't. Is this unique to the Berreta? if so, is there a mod to change it, its kind of annoying as you don't get as much view.

Thanks in advance

What other sights does the model have other than the fixed sights?Fixed is the proper term. "fixed sights" As in they are fixed to the frame and can't be adjusted. I don't think the Beretta is modeled with iron sights, I think they are plastic. But depending on the age of the gun the sights could be made of either steel or iron. I doubt the Beretta 92/96/98/M9 sights where ever made of iron because the gun isn't THAT old. I've actually seen them made out of stainless steel with or without the same plating that their black and matte blue guns are plated with, which means if they aren't plastic they are plated stainless or just matted stainless. But usually they hard plastic.

They are actually made of irons. Two irons that is. The ones you use for ironing.

I don't know what bizarre universe you dropped in from, but out at the range we call them 'iron sights' regardless of what they're made of.

I worked in a family business for several years. We sold and repaired guns. So where I'm from we called the sights "Open" sights, "fixed" sights or "adjustable sights". Since open sights can be fixed or adjustable both fixed and adjustable sights are open sights, just different types.

They are not refered to as iron anymore simply because open sights are made of all sorts of materials and you'll only find iron or steel sights on a long gun that have an oxide coat.

Iron sights was never an industry term. It's just slang that seems to assume they aren't called iron sight literly because they were of coated iron. If they are not iron they are not iron sights.

I've only known old timers and billies to refer to the open sights as iron sights when they aren't iron.

You know BoBBQ, using Wikipedia for facts isn't a good idea.

But still I only ever heard them called "Iron Sights" or just flat out "Sights." Iron Sights is the recognized term. End of story.
