What would you dislike most in a Stalker game?

Question What would you really hate to see in a Stalker (SOC - CS - COP) game?
Answers
Constant respawns in certain areas, much like in Far Cry 2
Lack of items and weapons
Insane AI
Too strong and too numerous mutants
Crashes, corrupted saves
Extreme difficulty
Faction war not working
Unbalanced gameplay (overload of a certain item, one faction being too strong, etc...)
Absence of new background story
Bad visuals or sounds (icons not properly aligned, bad texturing, bad sounds, etc...)

From the given list I can only object to 1 thing. Stalker, as some of you may know, has a lot of trash code that increases its system requirements. It's nowhere near perfectly optimized, even tho it's playable with the latest patch. Regarding spawns; I remember playing through vanilla CS once and no mutants would respawn in Military Warehouses at all. Respawns might be often but they aren't managed properly. I'd leave high respawn rates, but change respawn locations of some mutants and increased their respawn rate. IMO, Spartan's mod does a perfect job when it comes to spawns. All areas have constant respawn rates and are never, once passed, deserted wastelands, which exponentially increases map replayability and makes maps worth of exploration over and over again. I think there should have been more maps in CS but as far as vanilla game goes, they are well made (remade) if not even better than SHOC (I think CS Cordon and Dark Valley are a little larger than SHOC versions). There is one more thing that I forgot to mention. CS vanilla has a big problem when it comes to Faction Wars. All squads and mutants are marked on maps killing all mystery and spooky atmosphere you'd have if they weren't marked. IMO, they should have given you a list of cheats and 10 million rubels at start since you know half the game in advance anyway. Just look at the map and all surprises that the next map you're about to explore sink. Without mods, CS is great but some elements totally kill the experience. With certain mods (*cough* SPARTAN 11:11) they make the game a 100 times better experience.

I can sympathise with you there, freke. I do not have high hopes for STALKER 2. Here's hoping they dissappoint me by making a great game.

Clear Sky didn't have the same feel as SoC.
Comparing the two is like comparing Greens Apples to Red Apples.

Both have their advantages and disadvantages, but you can't really say one's better than the other. I love both games and have been playing them since launch. I've logged hundreds of hours, and I'm just barely turning 17. ^_^

But CoP, that was such a disappointment..I mean, S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2, they're completely removing the faction war after spending countless patches trying to fix it. A faction war -does- make sense in the Zone. There's the people there to destroy it, people there to extort it and it's inhabitants, the people trying to study it, and the people who want free access for it. Duty, Bandits, Clear Sky, Freedom respectively.

Come on, it -made- sense. I don't understand why they would take it out, it's total fucking anarchy there, of course there's going to be warring factions/gangs. A new engine? Now it's going multi-platform? When has that ever been good. The only good multi-platform game I know of is the first ever Halo. And I read somewhere there was going to be more underground areas that above ground.

They spent the last 3(8 if you count the 2002 build) years trying to perfect something, and they chose to throw it all away and start over.

It's great to have another S.T.A.L.K.E.R game, but so far, the approach they've taken doesn't sound like something I'd enjoy after 3 games of the (sort of) same thing.

I mean, that's why I fucking DESPISED Far Cry 2. It had nothing what-so-ever to do with the other game after enjoying Far Cry so much.

Or this could all just be me rambling and the game could be fucking amazing. Hopefully, this is true.

ive noticed alot on this.

comes in 2 ways. what rig power they got, and age group.
1st
*the kids run to newest thing, and always claim new is better etc.
*the old like to hang on to good things, so they hang on too SoC.
*the all over the place (including me lol) prefere what is actaully better. Clear Sky.
2nd
*powerful rig, will like Clear sky over any other.
*meduim rig, will prefere Soc but are displeased with Clear Sky. and play CoP, but get bored of CoP.
*@#$T rig, wont touch clear sky, and dis it everywhere they go. love SoC not happy with CoP, but keeping there mouths shut, because stalker 2 is comeing.

that above somes up the BASIC majority. by all means it does not mean its 100 percent like this, well its at least 80 percent correct. but thats my genral obs.

So, apparently, overall stability is without surprise the most required thing... That and intelligent respawns, making the game not to look like any blockbuster shooter. People also want to experiment a functionnal faction war, without those blocked squads, or these periods of inactivity for too long with no apparent reason. Balance is still deemed as important, although I'm quite surprised it didn't recieve more votes (maybe because that's one of the easiest and fastest thing to fix by oneself ).
I'm also very surprised to see that the lack of new items and weapons hasn't been selected more times as a real fail of a stalker mod in 2011; people always beg for them on every forum!

At last, it is clear that a certain range of the players are still interested in a discovering a brand new storyline, which could be one of the hardest thing to mod in this game (most I have seen until now are not very satisfying, imho, but... how to blame the modders? It requires, in order to be done decently, an enormous amount of work a single person does not always have the time nor the skill to do).
