Error with XREngine Crash - bind_stalker.script

Playing from Steam. Patched with Clear Sky Reclamation Project and Float32. Tried to install the ATM Sleeping Bag Mod. It didn't "take".

I'm getting a crash on saved game start. Main game loads, saved game loads, then before starting, crashes.

So, I went back to remove all the Sleeping Bag files. But my problem seems to be the bind_stalker.script file.

LOG:

FATAL ERROR

[error]Expression : fatal error
[error]Function : CScriptEngine::lua_error
[error]File : E:\priquel\sources\engine\xrServerEntities\script_engine.cpp
[error]Line : 180
[error]Description : <no expression>
[error]Arguments : LUA error: ...alker clear sky\gamedata\scripts\bind_stalker.script:550: attempt to call field 'get_release_body_manager' (a nil value)

Probably a syntax error. BUT, since I can't find a vanilla copy of the file - I'm finding it hard to parse the error. Verifying the Game Files from Steam didn't help resolve the issue, though I didn't erase any files, so it may not have caught it.

Anyone have some insight, or a copy of the vanilla version of the file?

This was your mistake. If you want a sleeping bag mod, use the one bundled with the SRP as an optional feature. Do not try to install other gameplay mods on top of the SRP, or you will get crashes and potentially other anomalies.

So.., that's your response? Basically, "fuck off, that's what you get"?

Perhaps I should have been more specific on what kind of insight I'm looking for here.

Having trouble, trying to solve it myself, spending a few good hours trying to troubleshoot it, and the first forum post I make, I get to read the Hero of the entire game development tell me how it's all my fault with a succinct two word diss.

Well. That sucked.

Decane, I wasn't really looking for a kick in the nuts while I'm down, I was more searching for a solution.

The sleeping bag disappeared from SRP and re-installation of the entire game and re-installation of SRP did not solve my problem. Yes, I recklessly tried to do a bodge job patch. Yes I've been fiddling with things that are sometimes best left untouched. That's a good way to end up where I am - fucked. But it can also be a pathway to deeper understanding and even knowledge, if faced without chagrin or shame.

So, duly noted that someone I admire thinks I'm an idiot. I realize how and why I got here. I would appreciate anything more you or anyone could add on how to proceed, or if someone can point me in the direction of the vanilla file, I will eventually bodge out an acceptable compromise after a few hours more banging head against keyboard.

Anyway, good to meet you, bro. I admire your work from a long way back.

I'm afraid a vanilla bind_stalker.script will not help here. You have a mod conflict: your bind_stalker.script (from the ATM Sleeping Bag) is expecting a function called "get_release_body_manager" to be defined in your release_body_manager.script. But your release_body_manager.script is presumably the SRP version, which doesn't have such a function defined. (The vanilla bind_stalker.script expects the same function, hence why it won't help.) To return to the status quo, you should delete your gamedata folder and re-install the SRP.

The sleeping bag disappeared from SRP

You mean it disappeared in-game? And you want another? If so, ensure you have the SRP's optional sleeping bag feature installed, and then add to gamedata\configs\gameplay\info_portions.xml, line 98:

<info_portion id="has_sleeping_bag2"/>

Then add to gamedata\scripts\db.script, line 71:

	if not has_alife_info("has_sleeping_bag2") then
		obj:give_info_portion("has_sleeping_bag2")
		alife():create("sleepingbag", vector(), 0, 0, obj:id())
	end

The line numbers are correct assuming you're using SRP v1.1.2. That should give you another sleeping bag.

I will follow your advice of course. Thank you very much for responding. I share a love of this game, but I do sometimes like to tinker with things to get a more custom gameplay.

>You mean it disappeared in-game?

Yes, disappeared in-game. Not sure about that one. I'll re-install as you say, and have another go.

Thanks for keeping this game very much alive, брат (brother
)!
