yes, it is just the zrp i'm using, but uninstalling would be a nightmare.

i was under the impression you should always back up the gamedata folder if a mod (or mods) don't work correctly.

if i wanted to uninstall zrp mod and start again from scratch it would be a headache, as i don't really know which files are zrp and those which were the original installed stalker cs gamedata files?

there is the possibility i could have installed it incorrectly.

otherwise, if i reinstalled cs from scratch, thein zrp, i could re-use a save file from the previous installation?

Don't you mean SRP? The ZRP was for SoC only I thought.

Firstly, make sure you are using the SRP, and not the ZRP, as they are for different games, as Tejas Stalker pointed out.

On a clean install of CS, there is no 'gamedata' folder in the install directory. The only way that folder could have gotten there is through manual creation or installation of mods. That's why I wrote that if you already had a 'gamedata' folder there when you installed the SRP, then you were already using mods, assuming away the trivial and unlikely situation where the folder was empty or contained only files not used by the game.

If you have other mods installed alongside the SRP and these other mods have rendered your save file dependent on something that would be missing on a pure SRP installation, then no. Otherwise, yes. (The latter situation is more likely.)

ah, that makes perfect sense now. i never realised.
that explains why i got confused when you mentioned 'conflicting statements'

ok, i have a couple of choices open to me, then.

reinstall the mod
or
reinstall the game

some might say it's extreme, but using the sleeping bag option would quite nice.
