Two artifacts usually spawn at the Devilish Encampment. However if you wait there and watch the Stalker who goes into it with his detector, a 3rd artifact will spawn and if you are quick you can intercept it from him.
Now I've replayed this part several times, paying close attention to the artifact hunting Stalker (except when seven snorks attacked right after the Pseudo Giant was defeated), but I only saw two artifacts in the anomaly every time. The psy effects can make one artifact appear as two in the detector display, though --maybe you were hallucinating, Tejas?
However, every time in this particular save the best of the two artifacts would suddenly slide out of view in the detector display, disappearing altogether. This did not happen as result of the anomaly discharging, which is known to throw artifacts away long distances. Also it occured both when the Stalker NPC was artifact hunting, moving around inside the anomaly with his weapon drawn, and once at the very moment he died in a fire anomaly. Maybe it's his scripted artifact pickup that's buggy.
Have I mentioned that I love Devilish Encampment? One of the best spots in the whole Zone.
