Many times you can see moving squads across the Zone with "Barrier" as their designated target. Which Barrier does that refer to, the one at the northern Army Warehouses? Or is it a generic term that means any faction war frontline?
If it means Army Warehouses, how come most of these squads usually appear to move to completely different places? Is "Barrier" some kind of default NPC target, that gets replaced after a few movements?

Barrier is the place in AW where the Freedom squad is usually camped out, next to where the Monolith attack from.
The reason that squads often stop short is because of hostile enemy squads with a greater power than theirs at the next ST, or the next ST is occupied by a neutral squad, which normally blocks their movement.
Makes sense, but is it always that simple? Especially in the faction wars it seems some squads have Barrier as their original target, but then still travel towards their enemy base (which surely is not on the way to AW, like Duty going into Dark Valley? --can't remember). Possibly such squads also change target destinations on the way, and/or continue towards Barrier after the enemy base is conquered, can't quite remember.
Monolith is obviously an exception, since the come from the Barrier, not sure about Bandits since they seem to spread in all directions. Military seem to be sedentary.
I'm leaning towards being a generic destination or a default choice when
things are pending or undefined. Since many of the ones who display this
never enter the AW or will at anytime, I don't think they get side-tracked.
