As far as I know, GSC has not said anything that can be verified. But fact is that they have not included 1.5.09 on their download page, and this seems to be much the situation we had with the 1.5.06. So, stick with the 1.5.08 until one knows what will be "the last patch". I've given a direct question to GSC on their brand new Call of Pripyat forum - where they actually invite gamers to come up with questions and suggestions, and I asked if they should not have one foot on the ground (CS) before they lifted the other (CoP) - and I hope for a straight answer from the developers.

I've played the 1.5.09, and it's not progress! (Known bugs not ironed out and a lot more CTDs than last patch. Faction Wars even more frustrating than before.)

I've not played the SRP patch yet, but as I understand it, you guys who have made it are mainly into "fixing known weaknesses and bugs", but after reading through the discussion thread, I think you have left the Faction War part off the hook too easy. In my opinion, the game is prepared for the eventuality that players may want to play all faction wars/both sides (except Renegades vs CS) without breaking up a game. There are some difficulties in this: Yoga dies much too easily, and the Freedom general always seems to "disappear" (without being killed) once his HQ is captured first time. And there is of course the almost impossible deed of capturing the Duty HQ without having to shoot so many Dutys that you can never be neutral with them again. The last issue, is because Duty spawns an almost infinite number of squads to counterattack when the border points on Garbage side are taken. And of course the Bandits punishes you just as hard for killing one single of their members as other factions do for a whole squad. Now, Yoga can be made to stay in his wagon and survive if you never go and ask for the additional reward for shooting up the Flea Market. The Freedom general should be "fixed" as I really do not think it's game intention that he shall disappear. The inproportionate spawning from Duty in Faction War could be fixed either directly, or one could work around the problem another way: by introducing one character that have the devious contacts needed to bribe (expensive!) factions into accepting you as neutral even if you have been a bastard and killed half the men of the faction in question. I of course think of Sidorovich. In this way it should be possible to succeed in complete Faction War play even if you play the game first time. I know this is a little more than a mere "fix", but people have had so great difficulties with playing the Faction Wars in any meaningful sense, that I think my suggestions can be defended as "fixing" a part of the game.

As much as I hope you guys will do this and introduce it into the SRP, I will also suggest that you wait a little, until we know what is the "final patch". For now I would not care about the 1.5.09.

(Edit: I've pasted this post after the question to GSC developers so they may finally understand what changes to the game are expected from a really good "final patch". I find it very hard to understand why they have not understood much of this themselves) AND, as to my own motives for this, except having a good CS game to play when it's rainy outside, I've made some introducing texts for new players (links below). I've already adviced new SoC players to use the "ZRP"-mod, and I think that text is pretty much finalized and can stand for years to come and as new stalker games are published. For CS I very much would want to finalize that by advicing 1.5.?? patch with SRP-mode on top, and giving game advices based on this. I really want the stalker games to be popular and I really want GSC to succeed, but then new gamers must not be thrown into a world of frustrations.

What can I say, I'm rather talkative by nature and I always try not to leave out things I think can be important. But, point taken. I'll try to improve.

OTOH it could also be by design because Bandits seem to feature in level design as extra resistance for the player (eg's: agroprom undergound, Limansk when we are supposed to be CS again).

a standard playthrough would see most people getting off-side with them to become like Renegades II let's not forget no matter how good you are to them they are still going to rob you and leave you for dead after the booby-trap incident at the Flea Market.

i get that impression when reading them. i'm happy for the benefit of your talkativeness

it is a good thing, to blast down all your ideas, and not worry about formatting, spelling, grammar, or whatever else until the end of the block.

all that other 'correctness' is distracting while writing and in the end it isn't even as relevant as the content itself.

I really think it is intended that the Bandits are more stern to the ones who hurt them than other factions. They are the most dedicated criminals, and "Are you on our side or not?" comes naturally. But that Yoga has this bad habit of dying even quite early in the game, isn't that good, because it can prevent you from entering their faction at all, even when you are all green with them. (I know someone say that you can enter by talking to trader or barman, but have never seen this myself.)

So, if you want to take part in all faction wars, you have to join the Bandits first, then Loners, and accept that this will make you enemy with bandits forever when Loners/you capture the Depot. We can't expect everything to be sunshine in the Zone (to put it very mildly...)

Tweaks to Faction Mod

I did not see this thread or know what it was but I just posted a thread about making the depot a forward spawn for duty or freedom to break up the time spent going to valley or agro. That may be bit more of a challenge or off the original intent. Well I don't know what gsc plans to do, I have already seen them promise a 1.1 for soc and that didn't happen so I have doubts about cs being fixed, especially the new direction they are taking the stalker universe with cop
Some other things

Freedom no longer takes the lab in the dv, it is pointless plus when freedom squads spawn they seem to always wander around the lab or swamp base confused for 5 minutes before moving forward, duty does a straight shot for the garbage once they spawn. I have seen freedom spawn like rabbits, but like i said they wander around in the dv forever

Also take away capture the point for factions that are neutral toward each other like freedom wanting to ttake the flea market when it is occupied by the stalkers - or - have whichever faction become hostile toward the neutral faction occupying the point if you do the "how can i help you menu option."

When two squads occupy a point and they have the capture a point option, extend the range of the camps near by that they can take.

maybe squad replenishing, it is ridiculous when a squad holds a point and there is only one guy, maybe something where another squad will go to the point and there with be two squads there.

Also something that is frustrating is when you help a squad capture a point and then they walk away from it and go back or go somewhere elese, clear sky does this with the point north of the machine yard and freedom does this with the flea market that I know of.

Make an option to completely wipe a faction out if you take their base.

have mulitple spawning locations for all factions, the stalkers can spawn from the flea market, their base in the cordon, the village center in the cordon and the base in agropam. Sort of the same thing earlier, why not other factions being able to spawn from these locations.

Slow do the time that the stalkers can respawn at the flea market, they respawn there really quick when they are cleared and the point is not taken.

In the swamps have clear sky take the pump station, the church, burnt farmstead, watchtower and other locations before the quest moves to the machine yard.

For Crying Out Loud, make yoga, tooth, and limpid non combatants or make them ignore whatever the heck makes them pull out there weapons and walk around i did a quicksave, the loaded it and they all pulled out there weapons and started aiming through the wall, I had no idea what they were aiming at. Also there is a bug sometimes when you do the yoga quest, he pulls out his radio and stays that way and you cant talk to him

this may have already been said but fix the dialogue so sid and others stop yelling at you when you are right in front of them especially sid.

I know long post but I would really like to see the faction wars fixed, I would like to mod them myself if I ever learn how the coding and all that worked.
