Firearm suggestions

Hi. Couple firearm suggestions that I would really like to see that I think would help the realism of the game:

Tripods for all rifles that normally accept them with multiple types for different ones (in the same manner scopes are handled); help improve accuracy when in low crouch mode only but added weight & reduced handling. (and not attachable to the grenade launcher)

Replacement Barrels for Rifles - Since many guns are designed to swap out barrels after x # of rounds I'd like to see barrels you can buy from traders to help repair your rifles *some* but not completely. Also I'd love to have quests where the reward is something like a special barrel for a common rifle like the 300 that improves it's accuracy & damage (longer sniper styled barrel). Barrel would have to have it's own wear I think.

Extended option magazines - another quest item that you can add to rifles that use that type of ammo to extend the ammo capacity before reloading... like the 300s would share the same extended magazine with the gc 35 or whatever it's called. Reusable and handled the same way as scopes & silencers.

PDW Mp7 - I'd like to see the Mp7 put in the game with a scope option etc. & allowed to be in the handgun section but make ammo for it fairly rare since the PDWs aren't to popular in the military (apparently) making it hard for the ammo to find it's way into the Chernobyl zone.

I guess you mean bipods like in Flashpoint or Day of Defeat.
With barrels getting swapped out, ARs don't really do this, you need a gunsmith to swap the barrel of an AR. The guns that have user-swappable barrels tend to be belt-fed Machineguns. Normal barrel wear for an AR is like >10,000 rounds before you notice anything, unless like a belt-fed MG you fire them all in 5 minutes and the barrel gets red-hot.

But I take your point for barrel 'upgrades'. Bigger mags is a great idea. We do it all the time with handguns. There's the stock 7 round mag for the 1911, and of course 10 and 15 round mags for IPSC and other sorts of competition. And most 9mm HGs will take about 13-17 rounds but the laws have ours regulated at 10 at the moment.

I would really love to see some bolt action snipers! Maybe a Remington 700P, or that one the Marines use (name slips me)

Also about barrel swapping-- ARs dont usually need too. ARs, however, are constantly kept clean by anybody who wants an neven slightly reliable rifle. I know I clean my rifles whenever I'd done shooting, and I dont have semi auto's! I would hate to think what would happen if somebody fired as many rounds as I typically fire in STALKER with an AR without cleaning it. The AK series is exempt from this (almost), because they are probably the most reliable rifle ever built. I've seen people run them over with hummers, completely submerge them in water and get SAND in the breach and the rifle still friggen shoots!

Maybe a good addition would be a rifle cleaning kit, or barel oil. Dunno how it would work in a timely sense, maby the same way health packs work were its instanltly fixed, or maybe it takes a minut or two, but I think its a good idea.

I would actually like to see some revolvers in magnum calibers. I refuse to believe that in the whole of the zone, nobody likes to use good old six shooters. They are, after all, the most reliable and accurate type of handgun (no jams, less moving parts).

I like the bipod idea a lot, it makes perfect sense. Especially for sniper-oriented rifles. Hi-Cap mags would be awesome as well. Not too crazy about the swappable barrel idea though. Seems like it would be more of a hindrance than a help.

I'd love to see some belt-fed machineguns, but I sincerely doubt that's going to happen. One can dream

Well I don't actually have any rifles yet but to me it seems stripping & cleaning is everyday practice... I can see alignment of barrels being a bit more then most people do though? But I just like the idea of being able to repair your rifle some & being able to make your favorite rifle a bit more to your liking by swapping the barrel for something more suited to your play style... like shorter for room to room hunting, longer for sniping. Anyways not something you'd do while hot like machine guns... but sit in town for a few minutes while the "process " completes in your inventory screen.

And yes I meant bipod but said tripod.

And also I wanted to clarify statement on MP7.. I say have it in the sidearm slot because it seems to be designed to be a secondary weapon. I wouldn't want all sub-machine guns to fit in that slot only ones that realistically could be comfortably carried hip-slung for extended periods. Like Uzi is chest sling but with out folding stock mini & micro would be sidearm slot. I would love to see Uzi pistol & mini-Uzi in game too.

As for revolvers... ya they'd be fun to hunt dogs with but that's it I think. They may be more reliable but they're juts not used anymore because they can't handle the task of taking out heavily armed individuals. The guys going into the zone are taking Armour piercing rounds, grenade launchers, night vision goggles etc... the only person I can see using a revolver in the area is the guy that has the misfortune of having the closest garage to the zone. Even our local cops stopped using revolvers about 7 years ago.. & we're only a town of 75,000 if you include the surrounding incorporated area which follows the highway for about 20 kilometers.

Machine guns I can see in certain places... like the 1st research center thing where the military have the guard towers... I can one being there & only movable if ya blow out the boards in the guard tower. Not something you'd be able to use except in certain places either... not a walk around & shoot stuff thing like the terminator. Being able drag it to the Army Warehouse & place it on their towers to defend against Duty or something.

think .44 magnum not .38 or shot gun shell's in the hand gun can be done.
light mg's can be man handed but no runing around to much useing one a PK74 is 5 kg, 45, 30 and 90 round drum's same ammo as the ak74
and we need Nagant model of 1895 as the Makarov PM revolver.

Good suggestions....

You know, I have been thinking.... let me abstract on this alittle

There is currently a system of upgrading the guns, pistols, rifles, etc.

Some firearms have been upgraded for you. others will allow a scope or different amo types.

I like the idea of "attachments". Bipods, Tripods, Scopes ( optical, ir, uv, rf, etc), different sights, magazine sizes (clips, belts, boxes, etc) , amo types(ap, spent uranium, etc) , bayonettes, camopaint, attachable shields, grenade launchers, recoiler suppressions, silencers, smoke and flame suppression, etc I could go on having been in the business

some things you should simply be able to buy at the keep or bar, attach or detach in the field... still

other things you should need to go perhaps on a "mission" to find a weapons smith. Perhaps he will do some mods or repairs, yes especially repairs, that would be easy to do, for some money and supplies, like food, antirad, etc but some mods would require you to making his living there a bit safer , such as, eliminating some mutants...?

Yes there is quiet the possibility for weapon expansion. I just listed what I though would be the most common & also simplest to enable in the game... with bipods being the easiest. Was under the impression barrel swapping was kind of easy if you have any firearm stripping skills.

Who actually uses a .44 Magnum revolver for field duty though? Guns are designed for faster reload rates, better penetration & such then revolvers now days. All due respect to revolvers (I actually like a nice little .38 six round revolver as a pistol) but they're just not something I think anyone would take into an area everyone & their grandmothers wearing some form of body armour. I agree a .44 would do some damage but it'd be like "emergency only" type weapon for the area. No more clips for your SMG, Duty is coming up to drag you out & make an example of you... so you grab your .44 to make a last stand.

I just think revolvers are only collectibles now days.

Handgun's are a last stand but revolvers are cheaper and can take more abuse and come in biger loads e.g. 454 catsull most stalkers will go for guns that have select-fire be it bust fire or full auto.
a Stechkin APS will be the most whanted gun in the zone cheap ammo lighter than a smg full auto to make up for the hand gun ammo
