Confused about generators, ending sequence.
I'm pretty close to the end now, close enouhg to have found the Monolith, but I didn't like the ending I got (too much money?), so I'm trying to finish the generators quest first. I found the battery and installed it. Then a message came up giving me a code ::

the code I got out of the computer was six digits (435897) but it does not open the door down here. What is the code to open that one lab door?
Also, I tried to exit the level, so I could go back to a trader and dump some of my extra money and the game CTD with a stack trace:

That code isn't for doors, iirc it was for pc. Coded doors is a secret stash and have nothing to do with that quest. |

Why can't I leave the area to get to generators to the north. If I leave now I fail the "get to the monolith" mission. Strange. |

Not that strange - if you attempt one of the 'good' endings in SoC you fail the 'Find the Wishgranter' task. When you discover your real identity you fail the 'Kill Strelok' task.
Even in LA, if you return to Radar from the NPP before the 'Help the Military' task is complete it fails - or it did before the latest patch: not got to that point yet.
