---QUOTATION--- I just finished playing 1.3003 and the weather is not fixed. I played mostly in DX9, and I kept switching back and forth between DX9 and DX10 and the weather seldom changed. I played the game anyway and the game was a happy sunny adventure still worth playing. The only time I ever got any rain, thunder, or lightning was once when I visited Rostock Factory. Changing weather is a big part of the game experience, and I'm sure the developers will eventually figure it out. ---END QUOTATION---
I just want to make it clear that there is a difference between:
- weather is not fixed, still has the 1.3002 bug (which is not true, per what you said, you got rain/thunder at least once, the bug in 1.3002 had the EXACT same weather all the time, not even the slightest difference)
- weather is very static, doesn't rain much, it's sunny/cloudy/whatever most days most of the time
The former is a bug and it's fixed in 1.3003. The latter is a game design decision, it's working as intended. Now if you want to ask the LA developers to make the weather more varied, be my guest, but don't say "it's not fixed", that implies a bug. A bug is when something doesn't work as it was designed to work.

After well over 100hrs with a new game started with every new ver., I haven't seen weather change from 'partly cloudy'.
I also haven't even seen a blowout yet (except one of the scripted ones), and weather is constantly the same.
I don't mind too much, but there was nothing like being in a thunder storm when it's dark! Kills immersion a little
edit: I should add this is in DX10 only, haven't tried running in DX9 |

Note that 007vsMagua (to which I was replying) specifically said that he had rain but then said the weather is not fixed. Obviously for him it is fixed but he doesn't like that it's not varied, that's a separate issue.
Now, on your issue. I've been playing on DX10 only too and I've had psi-storms, rain/thunder (although very little, maybe about 2-3 times in more than 3 weeks of game time). Generally my weather switches between r2_alpha/af_partly a few times per game day. So it's not very varied but it doesn't always remain the exact same.
When you say you only had "af_partly" I'm assuming that:
- you brought the console with ~ and looked at the weather message every 10-15 minutes of real time spent while playing and only saw af_partly
- you did play for at least a week of game time (7 in game days)
- you spent at least half a game day in the same area (switching between areas quickly apparently makes you never get blowouts/psi-storms)
NOTE: saying that you have "partly cloudy" weather and seeing only "af_partly" in the console messages are 2 DISTINCT things. Even if the weather changes to "r2_alpha" you still have some clouds in the game (hey, it's Ukraine not coastal California!).
If all that was done and you still see only "af_partly" in the console then indeed it sounds like you have some fixed game weather bug, a new one. A workaround that worked for the 1.3002 fixed weather bug was to change the renderer to Static Lighting (restart game to take effect), load the last save game, make a save (while using Static Lighting), then change the renderer to DX10 back, restart the game, load the savegame that you made with Static Lighting. This hack resets the weather state in case it was stuck for you for some reason.

Awesome thanks for the help!!
So after reading your reply I see that changing "zones" may be my problem, as I've been doing the main questline and not really exploring or doing many side-quests. Unfortunately the main story makes you travel back-and-fourth many times from area to area, so I think it's just resetting to af_partly every time.
Also, I have only just reached 7 in-game days with this character; my previous characters were only 3-4 days in.
I will try to experiment some more (and use your "static lighting" trick), as I'm at a standstill with the main quest (due to a different ctd issue). I will do some more thorough testing until I get that resolved |

OK, maybe it's not a bug, but when I played through 1.3001 I got constant weather changing patterns. Sometimes I'd get constant rain even when changing levels for a day or two, and then cloudy, and then sunny. For me changes in weather makes the game feel more atmospheric and normal.

I would also appreciate a little more weather variety, particularly more rain or thunderstorms - perhaps in time someone'll make a weather mod to that end. |

Why make a weather mod while the best weather modder is in development team?
Cromm Cruac is trying his best to make the weather amazing. |
