a hall of fame

this might sound a little cheesy, but what if on the menuy screen there was a hall offame, and it would list all 100 stalkers in zone and the rank on how good they are. It would also tell some traits of each like heavy smoker, liar, honest, alcholic. Then it would give an estimate of how many other stalkers, military, and mutants it killed. Any thoughts

i like it, would it be for singleplayer or multiplayer. im sure it would make the greatest difference in multiplayer. AHH! II JUST GOT AN IDEA! Rainbowsix 3: Ravenshield as a real-time world ladder. it is updated i think either after everyround played or every match. but Stalker could be set up the same way, a world ladder with a profile on the specific stalker. you could add particular traits, and the stalker him/herself could add some of their own information if they please.

I love stats in any game. Thief 3 has some interesting ones. I just noticed today playingit they posted how many people were killed, mugged, items stolen, etc. Yeah you have your personal stats in your menu, but it was a nice touch to include it as part of the game as a town watch bulletin.

BUT, I guess I don't see how they would do that for Stalker without giving too much away. I have to assume these 100 stalkers are AI, but well I dunno it just seems like it might not work. If you mean like a database on your PDA which you can look up people's names and reps. I guess I can see that.

Aparently one of the GSC dudes implied you can call for help on your PDA and other stalkers will respond (how they respond is up to them). That would mean every stalker has a PDA I guess. Which means that pretty much all stalkers can be tracked, which can mean everyone gets a bio based on what other stalkers say about him. So does that mean there is a central database? Who the heck it keeping it?

I really like the idea but I guess I would like to know more about the whole stalker 'net' to see if knowing the Hall of Famers is too much info or makes sense.

Well, maybe the dealers or the military for obvious reasons.

Nice idea. However I wouldn't go that far.

I suggest having a vague combat rating like Elite has:

http://www.jades.org/combratc.htm

Player would know his own rating automatically. Other stalkers ratings could be found out from stalkers, dealer or just by being in combat with them.

Dealer maybe, but the military doesn't make sense.

GSC said that all stalkers are in the zone illegaly so I doubt the military cares about the details of each stalker, just that they are in the zone and if found will be removed or killed (who knows what how the military acts to seeing a stalker). They certainly aren't tracking whether or not each stalker is friendly, a crook, faction standing, or 'profession'. And they sure wouldn't be sharing information (intentionally) with the stalkers on some satellite link.

The dealer seems iffy to me too, but not knowing what a dealer really is...it's possible. From the shots I've seen it seems to be more like a pawn shop owner than a guy that has a satellite link and runs a database server. BUT if they have a story to as why the military leaves the dealers alone and why the dealer has access to the technology, sure.

Seems ok, but I how would you judge the rating? Or rather how realistic is the information you are gathering going to be, since the rating itself will be vague?

Realisticly you aren't going to be able to track every kill, hit %, damage location, or whatever stats are going to be used. The game can sure, but not true to life.

I wouldn't mind accurate game tracked stats if it was information that was just for S&G, but if it is a list you could actually use in the game to make decisions I would vote that the information be somewhat flawed as it would be in real life. I can't think of what statisics would be tracked but I do like the basic idea.

Like in Thief, knowing your stats doesn't effect gameplay and the stats are precise. It's just for fun really.

I think the hall of fame will be good for Sp mode but in MP mode it should be hall of shame. Like which players you killed most or which player you most ripped his head off.

This because they also mentioned something about reputaions in SP mode and in MP mode something about your playing style; you gain points or whatso ever.
