Monster Beamed at Sakharov. He just gave Monster six-thousand roubles to study the artifact. It glowed in Sakharov's hand as he fiddled with it. He held it up to his ear and shook it violently. Monster thought he looked like an idiot trying to put on a show. He coughed and shuffled his unkept red hair. Sakharov glanced at Monster and nodded.
"Let me check one thing..." He muttered as he nestled the artifact next to a rat. He proceeded to smash the rat's rear paw with a hammer. The rat didn't even notice.
"You wouldn't happen to know where this came from would you?" Sakharov asked as he prodded the rat with a needle.

"No, it was passed along to me. I think they said Priyat, though. I'll ask next time I see them." Monster said in decent Russian, but with an American accent. He absently looked at the Eco-Suits to his side, seeing his reflection in the the glass. He was a little over one and a half meters tall, skinny, and had bright red hair that grew in random directions. His jaw was long and slim, fitted with heavy jowls and a big nose. He had flat cheekbones, a heavyset brow, and hazel eyes. Whenever he wasn't wearing a helmet, he had on a hat.

"Right, before you go, I need you to do something for me." Sakharov said, snapping Monster out of his daze. "I need you to take this modified weapon and test its improvements. Bring it back when you've used it." He handed Monster a H&K G3 and a box of 7.62x51 mm NATO cartridges.

The gun seemed lighter than usual, and it made his skin tingle when he held it. He wave goodbye to Sakharov as he left.
Two-Tongue was waiting outside the Mobile Lab.

"How'd it go, comrade?" Two-Tongue was an enormous bear of a man, reaching as tall as two meters. His light kevlar vest barely contained his massive muscle structure. When he patted Monster the shoulder, he coughed. He spoke in deep husky Russian. (think Dethklok, heheheh)

"I got six thou. Plus he wanted us to test this." He brandished the G3.
Two-Tongue took it and studied it for a moment. He handed it back. "You feel like exploring the Train-Station in Rostok? I think I saw some rodents and arifacts there."

Two-Tongue pondered for a moment. "Sure." He responded finally, unslinging his KS-23M shotgun.

They set off towards Rostok.

(off topic but "DO YOU FOLKS LIKE COFFEEEEEEEE? REAL COFFEEEEE FROM THE HILLLLLS! PREPARE FOR ULTIMATE FLAVORRRRRR! WOULD YOU LIKE SOME MILK?! AND I'M SCREAMING FOR YOUR CREEEEEEEAM.
DUNCAN, DUNCAN, DUNCAN, HILLS, COFFEE!"

cont.

When they reached the Train-Station, rodents were pouring out and running in every direction, ignoring Monster and Two-Tongue completely. They looked at each-other. "Something's not right," Two-Tongue whispered. They hustled to a where a train-car had smashed into a door centuries ago. Two-Tongue peeked in. He gestured Monster to wait as he squeezed into the room.

It was what was left of a loading bay. Train-cars were lined up on the rails, waiting for a cargo they never recieved. Huge cranes and pulleys dominated the ceiling. The air around Two-Tongue seemed to have a pulse. He let out a low whistle, and Monster hustled in quietly.

They began searching the room. The lines of train-cars kept them from seeing the whole room, so they moved cautiously. After three rows, they came across a dead STLKER, who had been sheared perfectly in two. Monster had to look away from the gore as Two-Tongue searched the body for rations and ammunition, seemingly unfazed.

They began searching again. As they got close to the back of the station, the saw the creature from around a corner. It was a massive 3 meter tall heap of skinless mustle. It had three short, hooved legs and two exceedingly long arms, ending in split hooves that could cut steel. On top of its long, muscled, and maned neck sat a horse head, with two gnarled horns sprouting out above its ears. It was happily munching on another dead STALKER.

"See if you can get into the rafters. And use slugs. That muscle looks like it could stop a buck from doing serious damage. I'll keep `im busy." Monster whispered towards Two-Tongue.

He extracted a long discarding SABOT round from his pack. "One left." With that, Two-Tongue hustled off towards a ladder.

Monster climbed on top of a Train Car, and took careful aim. If only he could keep that thing from using its arms... He squeezed the trigger. The kick almost knocked him over. Three rounds pounded into the creature's left shoulder. Monster could here the loud crump of bullets slamming into bone.

It stood up, screeching as it swung its right arm around wildly, effectively slicing a train-car in half. Monster swore as he slammed four more rounds into its chest. The bullets were stopped dead by its ribs. It shook its head and slammed its hoof into another train car, looking for the aggravator. It was getting closer to Monster.

He went full auto on the thing, while he tried to keep the G3's recoil in check. The thing howled as a clip was emptied into it. Monster cursed again as he drew a handloaded magazine from his vest and slammed it into the G3. The monster spotted him.

He desperately unloaded on it as the thing charged him. He barely rolled off the train-car in time to avoid its scything hoof. The edge of the hoof caught his side on his way down. He landed hard, ripping a wound into his left arm. He quickly got up, despite the pain, and ran behind another car. Leaning around the corner, he shot the thing's right shoulder. Both its arms went limp. So it began using its teeth.

A loud shot rang out as a 4 gauge buck slammed into the back of the thing's head, tearing off one it's horns and leaving a gaping wound where an ear was. It turned around and stood at full height, almost four meters tall. It began biting at the rafters. Monster reloaded and shot the thing in the back of the neck. He emptied his entire clip as Two-Tongue finally unleashed the SABOT round into the creature. The slug went the thing's eye and stopped somewhere inside it's brain. It toppled backwards.

Monster ran up to it and emptied yet another clip into the head, for good measure.

He started a fire a good five meters away from the corpse and set his knife in it. Two-Tongue jumped sown from the rafters and sat next to Monster. "We should get out of here soon. The rodents are going to get hungry," he said quietly as Monster pressed the red-hot knife to the gash in his side. He grunted quietly and ground his teeth as flesh burned.

"What do you think it is?" Two-Tongue husked.

"It probably was a horse. You've seen what happened to other farm animals here." He sat down with a huff and pulled out some paper, his pen, and some ink. He began two quick sketches of the demon-like creature. "We should warn Barkeep about this. Tell him to spread the word."

Two-Tongue nodded. "You want me to do that, so you can return the G3 to Sakharov? Then I'll meet you at the Freedom base?"

"Sure." Monster hand him one of the drawings with sloppy notes written in Russian. "Give this to Barkeep, and tell him I said hi."

"No problem, comrade."

With that, they left...

After they left, a swarm of rodents went back into the Train-Station, and had a feast.

Very good, but... Well, when I heard "Four gauge shotgun" I got suspicious. So I looked it up.

And lo and behold there is! It's the KS-23, and the barrels are made from "Defective" AA-gun barrels. Or perhaps you're thinking of the "civilian" TOZ-123?

And, 9mm Special Sniping Rifle, anybody? http://www.tulatoz.ru/en/milvss.html

Anyways, I digress.

So, yea, long story short, "It are good," and I won't cry if you write some more.

The KS-23 is the civilian model while the KS-23M Special Carbine is the Russian Special Forces Model. The military model is just reinforced and lacks a stock. And no, thay are not made of AA barrels. Why do people believe everything they see on the internet?

Go to www.DHMO.org. You'll see what I mean.

And the Proper name for the "9mm Special Sniper" is the VSS Vintorez. They started production of them in the early nineties. The AS Val is the Special Forces Version and is more common, while the Vintorez was designed as a sniper rifle that could be easily borken down into three parts and carried in a small suitcase.

LoL. the "9mm sniper rifle" is our beloved Vintar BC. Stalker's equivalent of VSS Vintorez. For the record, its a 9x39 mm round as opposed to common 9x18 and 9x19 pistol and SMG rounds, so there is nothing surprising about it.

good story btw.

edit: I read that you can find the Vintar (VSS Vintorez) in a stash in north west side of the freedom base. is that true? so, there are basically 2 of them to be found? cause I always thought there is only one and it is in a stash on the way down into the Yantar research lab.
