The Atmospheric Suggestions Thread *minor spoilers present*

This thread is targeted as being a dumping ground for people's suggestions for improving S.T.A.L.K.E.R.'s already magnificent atmosphere. The idea came to me last night when I turned off the Brain Scorcher and all hell broke loose. The barkeep informs the player that now stalkers across the zone are traveling towards Pripyat in hopes of reaching the center of the Zone. Instead of heading straight towards Pripyat however, I returned to Rostok to suit up. Well, I didn't come across a single stalker heading towards Pripyat on my way to the bar, which leads us to my first atmosphere-improving suggestion:

1.) After turning off the Brain Scorcher, random stalkers should be spawned in all areas prior to, and including the Red Forest. These stalkers should have one goal, and one goal only: Reaching Pripyat alive. They would spawn in small groups as well as alone. This would do wonders for atmosphere, as would the next suggestion...

2.) Birds. After turning off the Scorcher and returning to the Army Warehouses, I, for the first time in my S.T.A.L.K.E.R. playing history, noticed birds flapping their wings crazily, as if turning off the Scorcher would have had some strange effect on them. Although this was probably just a bug, I like to believe that they were flying away from the center of the Zone due to the battles taking place between Monoliths, Army and lone stalkers. This brings us to my next point: Adding a script telling many packs of birds to fly south in all areas prior to Chernobyl would add a lot to the atmosphere IMO.

3.) There should be random battles taking place in the Red Forest after turning off the Scorcher. The Army would naturally be trying to keep people away, while greedy lone stalkers would be trying to get into Pripyat. This would be easy to accomplish by implementing suggestion #1 and spawning random army soldiers along the way as well.

What do you think guys?

PS: Though all of my suggestions have to do with the time period after turning off the Scorcher, suggestions for other time periods or just general suggestions are also welcome.

Those are all really good ideas.

To me, most of them seem to be very possible.
Especially the one about spawning stalkers on their way to pripyat. So long as these stalkers are from different factions, they would begin to fight anyway as they made their way to pripyat.

You should definitely try to get a mod out of at least out of 1 & 3, they are definitely feasible. You should get in contact with some modders about this. Especially the alife modders, they are excellent at spawning spawn points.

I think the game should have more moments that contain small, yet more immersive details. Just think how cool it is to already sit around a barrel of fire with other stalkers..Only they should give you the option of joining into the group more. Play the harmonica or guitar yourself, and even the chance to possibly tell them about your stories from "The Zone".

One thing that I'd really like to see in the game, is the option to sleep infront of the fire for the night...As you wake up, you're vision will blur for a brief moment and you'll also see that the fire is out..With just a bit of smoke rising from it. Another NPC will eventually re-light the fire. Although waking up to an extinguished fire in the morning will really give you the feeling you spent a night in "The Zone"
