Side Missions Expire too fast to Complete

What happens to me is I go to a new zone, get a side mission, go do the side mission. If the side mission is in the same Zone (they rarely are) I can complete it. If in a different Zone, time expires before I can return for the reward part. I complete the mission objective, but no time to return to contact.

This would be more reasonable/realistic; 24 hours to complete side missions. 72 hours to collect the reward.

Even better would be that once a side mission is completed the timer stops the countdown and you can return anytime for the reward. Seems more reasonable that way. The mission is complete, so why have a timer for a reward?

There is a mod around that sets it to 10 days and I'm thinking about getting it because whenever I go to yantar I get a kill zombie mission and the reward giver is the duty general which I have never been allowed to access yet, no matter how far in the game I am. If it was 10 days then maybe I could be arsed to try getting to the general but atm. all I do is kill the zombies and screw the reward.

There are plenty of mods that accomplish this. Try browsing stalker-files.com

On topic: Yes, they need to improve this. I also agree with Darkness62; time limit should not apply to getting the reward, just the completion of the task. There is one problem, and that is those tasks where you have to give an item to the task-giver, like a rifle or artifact.

In those cases, the task is completed when you transfer the item. But there should not be a reward time limit for defend the camp tasks and the like.

Wrong Forum Dept: In answer to the "how do I" question: You can change a file called task_manager.ltx, which needs to be extracted from the database and put in a gamedata/config/misc subdirectory. There's a "time = 86400" for most tasks there which corresponds to 24 hours. Adding an extra 0 would make it 10 days. Putting a semicolon in front of the line would remove the time limit for that task all together.

See the Mods Discussion section for this and please post future mod-related questions there. Visit [link]http://stalker.filefront.com/files/[/link] for some mods that do the trick in the single-player section.
