It was good, but it lacked some features that would have made it outstanding. Kinda like another certain game...

I agree that stalkers/noobs/non-enemies should be doing stuff. Not by accident like "clear out the blood suckers" that usually happens to those that don't walk into the anomoly from the freedom farm/base.

I'd like to have the ability to hire other non-enemies to haul my loot for a few hundred rubles/price of a rifle. (as most noobs have a pistol...silly)
Have them follow you with a chance that they'll leave every once in a while when the shooting starts. (need a follow/wait and fight command)

Giving weapons would be key, as would taking back garbage and the hangar: for example I tried to give GP36's to the hangar crew...nobody took one. WTF? I recall only one took an obokan for a krinkov. Uh-huh.
Or garbage itself, once the P-dogs take over, that's it. Could have been a mission: the three stalkers outside the hangar want to take back garbage, and need your help. Clear it out and arm them better, that'd be cool.

Fixing cordon exit and military base by putting spawn points outside the area would be appreciated. Gets aggrivating both ways, like the .mil base I'll kill the patrol, use binocs and take out those left. Then as I approach, 2 or 3 will appear and open fire....arugh, WTH, dammit?

Same thing with the depot/exit to the north of cordon when they spawn in the house...friendlies/enemies are the worst because they scare the shit out of me when they teleport in, and seeing as you're made of feathers, you can't push them out of the way to escape. W/O combat armor/exo suit, you're screwed. Someone wasn't thinking, .003 patch came close and toned it down, but I had 7 appear at once (3 in, 4 outside the house). Not fun when you can't collect ammo before the next wave is in the house shooting you in the back. Still!!! (despite the 03 patch).

NPCs who have rifles (of any kind) won't pick up a different rifle.

In cases where you zone in with baddies all around, run. Run fast, pop medkits (I've got quick medkit bound to my middle mouse button so it's instant access) and keep hitting the run key when they hit you. You should always have decent armor on, though an Exo will actually impair you since you'll lose your run option.
I once went back to Red Forest after Pripyat and was confronted by a horde ot zombie stalkers. I'm talking a mass in the double-digits not a stone's throw from me. I was able to haul *** past them and down the hill without taking any appreciable permanent damage. Just make sure you've always got armor in good condition and a healthy supply of medkits. And you may want to quicksave before leaving a level, so you can go back and wait a bit and go through the switch point later if need be.

yeah...say thanks to:

1.-THQ for cutting things when the time was running out...

2.-Designers, for speaking about "the things the game will have and do" before knowing if their programers would be able to do "the things the game will have and do"...

but...ey! maybe with some extra months of work with patches the GSC guys can make finally what they promised. i hope so

Either that or they'll release the SDK so we can do it for them...

This is how i think the game should be!

Ok this might be hard for me to explain but I will try my best.

Point 1. GSC has said that apart from you (the player) there are many other stalkers in the game going around doing their own things and taks and so on. Now this does happen sure, but not as much as it could.
For example...

When you arrive at Duty there is that annoucement coming over the PA saying "stalkers if you looking for a job come to the bar" now that servers a purpose, it lets you know where to go to get a job but also makes the game feel like you are not the ONLY one looking for work.
When in actual fact, you are.

What I think should be done is have a system where there are all these missions and side missions like there are at the moment however, ANY stalker should have the possibilty to complete ANY quest in the game, be it a small side quest or the MAIN story. This way if you do not go out looking for the "Main" jobs, other stalkers (at free will) will go and possibly do them and you lose out on some parts of the story. Ending with you needing to find out what you missed some other way.

Im not sure if this expressed exactly what I have in mind. Basically that you are one of many stalkers, (I know you are at the moment) and every single one can do the same tasks. Not just you. So you really do feel like they are doing there OWN thing and that a generic PA annoucement that is ment to sound like its for EVERYONE when in actual fact its just for YOU would actually have some real meaning, and be for everyone in the truest sense of the word.

basically you are the only Stalker who is going about trying to find out what the hell is going on, and sure some hints here and there of other stalkers going deeper into the zone, and getting there before anyone else. That should not just be text, if it is said in the game it should have happend. hense, if you are not quick enough at some things you miss out.

Also like when you go talk to Barkeep or whoeever trader whatever, you are always the only one who wants to talk to him.. why are no other Stalkers trading? why are no other stalkers taking jobs like X18? and after you wait for barkeep to finish talking to whoever the other stalker/s is/are you are allowed to take on the quest (if you want) but knowing that there is another stalker who is also trying to do what you want to do and you can either let him do it and kill him when he returns and just take the stuff from him or follow him (kind of shadow him) and kill him whenever you want so that YOU can complete it. The zone is supposed to be a bunch of epople trying to get the best artifacts and jobs and yet its only you who is doing so.

hope that explains it.

What you guys think?

GSC actually had this implanted in the original game like during 2005 with the vehicles but took out the idea b/c they claimed it wasn't fun or something and just made you rush through the game, that and the NPC'S used to pick up anomalys, I personally wouldn't mind it since you could just kill tehm when they picked it up, also ya, you wouldn't have to scratch the bandits but make the loner's diffrentiate in mood towards u then just wave angerly til u shoot them or just stand and trade with you while trying to survive, I would like to see if you could also join a gang also, like a group of 3 stalkers like Sterlok did in the beggining
