Important NPC Thread(guys pls help)

Guys I really need to know how the important NPC are marked...ARE ALL THE QUEST NPC MARKED IN CASE OF DEATH TO DISPLAY WARNING OR I`LL HAVE MORE SURPRISES ALONG THE WAY?The case here is with bandit MONGOL...I`ve saved his life when entering Dark Valley and made friends with the bandits but he kicked the bucket when revisiting bandit base after a few military stormed the base in that right moment. The STALKER DEAD message did not appeared, thus showing that he does not take part in the plot but I really need to know for sure...before several hundred hours of gameplay passed>If you know other cases like these.... PLEASE LET ME KNOW GUYS!!!

If you're playing the vanilla game then most, if not all, of the storyline essential characters are either friendly or neutral. Refrain from shooting anyone other than enemies and you'll be fine.

But the name 'Mongol' suggests you're playing a Narodnaya Soljanka variant. Well, he's one of Borov's 'morons' and often acts like it by hanging around until Bullet and Max show up on their way to Garbage. He does a lot of dying. Sum total effect on the storyline = 0.

However, there are several characters whose loss can screw up important bits. Fanatic for one. Thing is, these susceptible people are important to you, so its part of your job to keep them alive. And just in case you don't the modding gods provideth. For a mere 300,000 rubles (or finding the recipe and cooking your own) you can obtain an artifact that can raise the dead (sometimes, for some NPCs).

THX alot man...forgot to mention that is NS OP2 I`m playing, sorry for that.I would ask you if you know a safe way of modding the config files to make the game even harder(not cheatting).I would like to give it a more survival touch ...something like Misery.I know that there`s a protection baked in that will ruin your gameplay pretty hard if you try to mess with certain files.I would want something like hunger to grow faster and to have a bigger impact on the stamina and on health regeneration rate, also rare food drops, faster weapons and armor degradation rate... .It would be something of pure epicness.

That's a lot of files to alter to put in there everything you want.

For instance, to make weapons wear out faster you need to alter the 'Condition_shot_dec' line in each weapon's .ltx file. There are a lot of weapons in NS.

Armor degrades pretty damn fast as it is. Why not just wear each suit until it is completely destroyed. Or you could alter the .ltx file for every type of armor - probably more than 50 of them.

You'd need to change every file as you don't know which weapon or armor you'll be using next, unless you stick to one type of each.

Same thing with food items. And having hunger appear more quickly would mean messing with the actor.ltx - that's where the cheat-protection lives, and changing the wrong variable in there will screw up several major quest lines.
