Safe as storage place?

Hi All,

Can I use the safe like the one in Dead City or Borov's Safe or the one in bar - as a place to keep my loot? And I can't find a place to store my items in Yantar before going to Dead city. Any ideas?

Thanks for all the replies, Stalkers. And for the enlightenment about Vodka

Yes you can, but it is better to use Permanent Corpses as they do not make the game pause for a long time when getting close to that stash.

Thanks for the tip; I've always hesitated as I've never monitored whether bodies left after others have disappeared actually stay for the whole game.

They do don't they?

Dead NPC that were scripted will stay forever.

If Wolf dies for example, or the boss of the Sin guys in Cordon, the Monolith dude you talk to in Dark Valley, ... their bodies will stay forever. You might stash things in them.

Your food and your ammo will have a strange smell after a while.

If you intend to make a very large stash be careful - permacorpses have a limit. If you go beyond it they will just burst and all your gear will be dumped in the surrounding area.

NPCs in LA don't loot, but they will pick up a weapon better than the one they have, so you could lose some things in such an event.

If someone asked me how much is "very large" I would mouth tit-head and move on.

How much is "very large"?

I'm more interested in the lag aspect when approaching large stashes; which isn't too bad with L.A.

In one mod it was very easy to come by exo suits. I had 5 corpses with 65 suits stored in each - the game wouldn't let me add any more than that.

But there are reports of overloaded corpses that just erupt. Not sure what the limit is, but it has to be 3,000kg or more. If it happens you'll know as you'll barely be able to move on getting near it.

In the sleeping area of the scientist's bunker, there is a box that you can use.

Good to know, thanks, and according to PCDania.

Who recently lectured me on my grammatical slothfulness

Permacorpse contents are loaded in a different way by the game than regular stashes. They appear to keep the game from pausing or freezing as your switch-distance hits that point, possibly their contents are loaded in the level-change, whereas the regular stashes only load as they move into switch-distance.

The slowing of the game I mentioned would only happen if the permacorpse threw out its contents - 3,000kg of gear spread over a small area will do that.

I was having a gentle dig at PCDania who kindly corrected my spelling in another post.

Which 'your' are you referring to? The one used in my first post or the one in the post you quoted?

'You're' is a contraction of 'you are'.

'Your' means belonging to you. As it is referring to 'your gear' and 'your switch-distance', both being possessive, it is correct usage in both cases.

F.F's Sake the "your" misspelling was in a post I made a while ago which PCDania commented on and being a bitch I couldn't resist pointing out his strange phraseology in his reply on page 1.

I'm sure the confusions my fault as I confuse myself too often for comfort so I hope this clarifies and ends this muddle.

That bit wasn't marked as a quote, so I took it as part of your reply.

Blame shared 50/50.

I sip the vodka, let it roll across my tongue, feel it warming, the flavours blossom, the texture turning from oily to light, the spirit filling my senses...

...swallow and repeat...

Ah, Ok. Sorry for thinking you were one of those show-offs claiming to drink vodka but actually they can't stand the taste so they drink it so cold they can't taste it. Personally I find that if you don't like the taste, don't drink it unless it's medicine.

I think that any highquality booze should only be enjoyed at room temperature (and in some cases diluted with a few drops of water), but that way sounds good too actually
