Just a thought - Magazine reloading / Kit location / Grenade throwing

Magazine reloading
I havent seen any games to my knowledge where you have to stop and fill your mags. In battlefield2 you had a fixed number of mags, a good idea for a short life span. However stalkers can carry several hundred rounds of ammunition and all we have to do is hit the reload key.

I dont know how fessable it would be in a game but it would be more realistic if you had to stop and fill your magazines. The player would have to face the "only have one mag left" situation even if he carries a million rounds. Would get the player thinking ahead more.

If it could work it would bring the magazine type into question giving the player the choice of (mentioned else where on a thread) different magazines; standard, high capacity possibly box/drum mag. Obviuosly this would have a handicap, propably handling and accuracy.

Kit location
I felt the little picture of the stalker in the inventory bar was under used. Maybe the introduction of different load bearing equipment; webbing, holsters, vests, etc could be used for allocating quick use items like bandages, grenades, draw times from pistol/SMG to rifle, weapons which are slung. Would also marry up nicely to magazine limit. Any thing in the bac-pack have a longer access time (take bag off/find item/etc)

Grenade throwing
Ive always been thrusted with not being able to "blind throw" a grenade around a corner or when Ive been on a ladder to just push it along the ledge above me. If you could work something out that would be great.

Just the things ive missed from realistic FPS games which bug me. Anyway, absolutly brilliant game, the best ever.

trust me.... i hate loading mags.... it takes too bloody long and your thumbs get sore, and thats real life. in a game it would be kind of boring, but i like the idea of instead of ammo being put in bullets it be by the magazine, so you don't carry loose rounds around but actual mags, and separate the backpack and the belt kit, so in a sense you could have 6 mags on your belt, and 4 in your back pack, but to get those you would have to move them to your belt only if there are spots

Actually, the ammo in the inventory is already divided up into mags that are half-full or nearly empty - if you've ever had to sell or deposit several hundred rounds you'll know what I mean, and it's annoying. But when you actually reload, they're all mysteriously full.

Personally I don't want Stalker to be that realistic - it has to be fun to play, too. I could handle having only a certain number available at any one time, and I like the "different items on the webbing/belt" idea.

But no filling clips.

OKay not actual have to reload them bet some kind of difference should be made from instantly ready mags to inventoried items.

I like the current system of ammo control & while it's a little odd all the clips are full when you reload it makes the game easier... this should be a difficulty level change. Where only "hard" difficulty gets you partial clips on reload. But no to actually having to reload the mags yourself; when you take ammo who's going to sit there taking individual rounds? You grab his spare clips & the one from the gun cause it's fast & you don't need to reload them & move on. That's why it makes sense you don't have to reload mags.

I like the idea of having to load mags' that way when you going into a place you know is gonna be crazy you can pre-load like 10 mags or something. Plus then thats just another thing that can influence the game for you. Great idea! Im all for it!

In addition, I don't see why you can't choose which type of grenade to throw/equip. You don't throw your F1s till you've thrown all your other ones.

Plus, I think, to add fluidity, grenades should not be a seperate weapon slot, but another control, like in COD 2. It makes them far more practical and less clumsy to use.

What we need is the ability to drop our primary gun when out of ammo and whip out our pistol. They way it is now, theres no point to keeping a pistol as its faster to just reload your gun or go into inventory and take another primary gun out.

Magazines were supposed to be in the game, IIRC, but they are nowhere to be found. Sad.

The ones that don't fit your weapon?

Press "y" to switch grenades.

In vanilla STALKER, pistols are basically good for saving your ammo supply when fighting weak enemies. That's all. I'd love to see something like a 3-point sling accessory that allows you to quickly drop the rifle(without losing it) and draw your handgun.

Or we could just remove the stupid cocking animation. Why would a well trained Stalker, going into a dangerous area, leave the chamber empty?
