alternative Exo suit idea

I haven't gotten an Exo-skeleton suit yet so this is just based on what I've read.

From what I've read Exo suits are basically like normal armour & replace any suit you're wearing right now & have the same wear rate.
I like the sounds of them & such & they fit the Stalker world perfectly I think however I wanted to toss an idea for another type of suit.

What I would like to see is an Exo-skeleton that doesn't replace your current armour but actually goes over top your current armour (except goin over top other Exo-skeletons of course).
It would have no stats except to slightly increase impact resistance (by something minor like 5%) to account for things hitting the frame instead of the player but have double the wear rate of the current Exo suits as things hitting the frame instead of the actual armour the player is wearing is harder. While on current Exo suits wear rate would stay the same as the armour is "sewn" (I think combo metal mesh in the arms & such but this is beside the point) into them.
On all Exo suits to make up for the lack of ability to run I'd like to see a slight (again minor) increase in accuracy in the heavier rifles as since Exo-skeletons are designed to make the stalker be able to carry more weight it makes sense he'd be able to hold the gun steadier since it doesn't weigh as much to him any more.

Hmm, thats not a bad Idea.

I also think that things in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. should be more customizable.

This is a brilliant idea ! That's what an exoskeleton actually is, right? A mechanical device meant to make you stronger, although more cumbersome...just think: increased weight carry capacity and stable sight (if it would only float when you're wearing normal armor at the expense of movement speed

Really good idea. I could'nt use Exo skeleton armor yet cause of the game technical problems. I hope they will fixe all those and agree to your idea ^^

Why the exosuits do not have the ability to run I shall never know. I actually have stopped playing the game because of that, most ridiculous idea ever.

you can get a mod for runing in exo's i think.
may be we can have over the top-exo's add like some type of item.

I think the easiest way to make exos "on-top" added would probably be to make them a type of artifact, but that would likely preclude having them modify your "paper doll."

Also, I think it's an overreaction to stop playing just because the exosuits stop you running. It's not a bug, it's just an item being balanced in a certain way by the devs.

Mind you, if you've seen Aliens, it makes sense, that big thing Ripley wears near the end is basically an exoskeleton intended to enhance strength, and I think it's pretty reasonable that while it increases strength, it also increases mass to the point where actual running isn't feasible.

I wouldn't want them to see them as a artifact. And I agree with the no running system... it makes sense of increased mass. joints can't keep up with human reflexes etc. If people want want running it should be left to a mod.

A little bit of agreement here, save for the exo makes it hard to tell if there is power assist. If there was, then yeah, the power draw trying to move that fast might hinder movement to a large degree.

But it *looks* like it is just a shell with braces and joints so that downward force is lessened (like crutches or knee braces)...that's it, more like a brace-ing system than battle armor like in FEAR.

I think where an RPG element would come into play is either player level (vet, stalker etc) or wear time of an "piloting" an exo.

Think about it, if you were wearing one it'd take time to adjust before you could manage a jog and even then the exertion of that frame armor would take time to move.

I think it'd double the exertion and slow you down to 1/2 running speed, or at most 85% of running/sprinting speed depending on you skill level.

Plus, I'm also suprised that in interest of "balance" that such a system doesn't make more noise!

how lame, can you not see the huge servo motors on the armor, again people are just stupid, you try sprinting with 15kg armor on and another 45kg or so on your back.were not playing super man,its a brilliant idea, negating sprint ability, but having huge weapons fire protection and the extended carry weight(hence the servo motors)

Could we not merge this idea with with two other threads?

Just a thought - Magazine reloading / Kit location / Grenade throwing by myself
independent backpacks by Teggy

If several people have similiar ideas, liked by most people on here then we cant all be far off the mark. Can we?

Haven't read your thread but Teggy's thread is an independent idea of inventory control. The Exo suits are more mobility option & both ideas could operate independent of each other. That is you could wear an exo & still be able to carry nothing but the gun in your hands because you have no where to carry it because the pesky pseudo-dog ran off with your backpack.

You can make the exo-skeleton improve your accuracy by giving it the base_disp = [any negative number] property in the config file.
