The aks-74u fires 5.45x39mm cartrages, not .30 calibre... and nothing on earth fires a 7 x 56mm bullet (that I know of).

Well, that's a mauser bullet.. and the calibre is close, but not what he was talking about.. and not even close to what the aks-74u fires.

The ak-47 fires a 7.62x39mm round, which is also not even close... and I'm sure someone else can google search some obscure variant, but I don't know if they make the ak47 or akm so short.

[link]world.guns.ru/assault/as03-e.htm[/link]

My mistake, I meant to say that it fires the normal AK-47 round: the 7.62mmx39 round [the barrel is a little longer and the stock is fixed and it was fitted with internal weights to reduce recoil] it could also be reconfigured to fire the 5.45mmx39 Soviet round, a Spetsnaz officer told me when he took a look at it in the market I sold it in. He was a pretty nice guy actually and did not arrest me for posession of an illegal firearm since I found it. He bought it for his collection since Soldiers are allowed to own weapons in Russia but citizens are allowed to own hunting rifles and other weapons by police permit. Also, Adam Therio, I did not say that YOUR guys dropped it, some American regiment was sent over to keep an eye in us, since Bush doesn'tlike Russians, you know, bein a redneck an all.....

That link is dead for me.

And I severly doubt that you'd want to fire the thirty calibre round through such a short barrel. The ak47 is already reportedly violent to fire. Cutting back the barrel would further decrease its pittiful accuracy, decrease its controllability, and hamstring its muzzle velocity and range. At the very least it would require a compensator to keep the barrel down and to cycle the action of the very heavy bolt assembly.

I found the compensator in the same alley I found the AKSU in after taking a look in there for more goodies. I agree though, the sound could deafen someone with such a short barrel, but it was longer than the normal AKS. I sold the compensator to an antique store for 5000 rubles [pretty cheap, now that I think of it].

Hmm, that link is dead for some reason. [EDIT] FIXED THE LINK!

Yeah.. this site says nothing about the description and calibre you described. I'm going to choose not to believe you on this..

oh, btw, how's your 'partnership' with EA? Lol.

I never partnered with EA nor did I say I partnered with EA, I said I was planning to work with Sony Imageworks, I am going to partner with Insomniac, now that I have contacts in there, now I just have to iron out the flaws in the storyline I wrote. The animation supervisor there already worked out an engine for the project and control layout. I always expect skepticism from you, FuxOr, so I'm not surprised.

P.S. The site has a lot of missing weapons that are always seen in Russia in police armories and shooting ranges, like the Dragunov Training 5.45 NATO rifle and the experimental AKPB-80 12.7mm Anti-armor rifle that is being tested in Russia as I speak.

My knowledge of weapons is not limited to an aquaintence with that website.

I'm an amateur developer working with a couple of projects at sourceforge. We should exchange design notes.

How far into your design document are you?

How is it that someone is so talented as to be a head animator and a coder with sufficient talent to bang out a game engine in his spare time?

My co-developer for one of the aforementioned projects and I have decided that we would like your autograph, preferably on imageworks letterhead with your name at the top. Such a gift from someone as influencial as yourself may become valuable one day, and it would make a great centre piece for any mantle. It would also give us something to tell our grandchildren about.

I have a feeling you are being sarcastic, but I do not question your involvement at sourceforge. You have your own opinion and I have mine. You do not believe me, then that's your problem, I didn't even want to bring this topic up. So we'll see who is telling the truth in a few years.

P.S. Adam Therio, what was the sidearm of regiment you served in? Some armies and/or regiments vary on their equipment, like in my military school I was in Delta troop where we were issued demilitariazed [unable to fire a bullet, but still 100% real] M-4 carbines, Alpha troop was issued M-16-A2s, Bravo troop was issued Avtomat Kalashnikova 47s, Foxtrot troop was issued M-16A1s, and Oscar troop [everyone wanted to be them] was issued H&K G-36s, etc. What was the gear you were issued?
