Stop Worrying about co op

Everyone on the forum is talking about the possible absence of a co op mode. BEcause of this, its going to be the most obvious mod to make. A decent co op mod should be released fairly quickly.

but if the devs couldn't do it? then how could freelancers possibly pull it off?

answer: because they are "allowed" to make a buggy co-op mode

exactly. It will start off really buggy and then new versions of the co op mod will come out and eventually it will be bug free. almost

But the main reason i was lookin g at this game was becasue of coop play. And i dont care what anyone says or thinks, mods are never as good as somehting commerically released.

I am sorry but that is just wrong. If you have heard of EA's game Battlefield 1942 you will find that more people played the very well made mod Desert Combat of it. In fact more people play DC than BF1942 or thier other game Battlefield Vietnam. I often enjoy mods very much and in some cases the only reason I keep some games I hate is because there is a mod that saves this game from the trash.

Well, those are exceptions. It's not hard to overthrow EA's quality with mods.

I have stopped playing EA games. The last EA game I bought was BF:V, and boy, that sucked. I admit, I downloaded some other EA games (NFSU:2 and MoH: PA) and those were not of high quality either, and the support was just lacking. Bugs everywhere.

Terrible.

Umm, do you not understand that co op mode is harder then ANYYYYYYY other MP mode of play.

Simply because you have to program all of the SP features to work with more then one PC character.

You have to figure out how this should be done and this, and what'll happen if Player X does somethin that affects player Y.

There's a reason why a lot of good games with MP support don't have "co op" mods available.

If the dev's have a problem doing it, and have stated because of tech reasons, then I seriously doubt a mod team will be able to pull it off anywhere near of the quality as a full working co op from retail.

I suppose you have to ask yourself this: "Do I feel lu..."

I mean, "Do I want the game this year, with few bugs, a great SP and a great story line, or do I wantthe game next year with loads of bugs, an ok SP and a co-op?"

Personally Im not bothered. Co-op isnt a very common feature in games anyway, and I dont expect a game to have it, nor do I have much use for it... as Stalker is AFAIK on the PC, so youd have to be online for a hell of a long time to play it through on Co-op.

Co op has worked in many gmaes on pc.

Co op is EASILY one of the most requested MP features of games these days, yet it's one that dev's hardly provide.

Co op allows people to experience the depth of an SP game with some friends, without degrading the experience into a usual mp "deathmatch'y" type system.

remember Multi Theft Auto? Buggy as hell, but possible. Gaming devs can't release buggy modes, modders can. They're allowed to. Thus: Co-op beginnings provided by the devs themselves plus talentful modders to release it under their name will prove to be excellent!

Just as long as the devs and THQ co-operate ( ) with the modders and give them some pointers, you know? Who agrees?

not me.
i have yet to see a decent co-op mod in any game that did not come with it originally.

far cry?
mechwarrior 4?

why would i want a "buggy co-op"?
the mind boggles

sorry. but i am really not intrested in paying good money on the off chance that some modder might come along and change it into what i am looking for.

i have heard it all before in countless games forums.
the mythical modders will come to save us.
let's face it if they could make anything top notch, they wouldn't be releasing free mods.

comparisons to desert combat in BF2 isn't impressing me either.
great. they changed the skins. but guess what? it's still not my kind of multiplayer game.
or did it suddenly become a decent co-op and i missed it?

don't get me wrong, i love mods. i feel they they add a lot of replayability to a game. but if i don't want to play the game in the first place, modifying it won't really help me.

i like mods for co-op. like the missions and equipment in flashpoint or the tom clancy series. extra maps for ravenshield. new gun packs, extra uniforms and equipment. great.
customise (and add more content to) the game i already enjoy. it only makes it better.

customise a game i am not intrested in. really? well done. if i meet you at the bar, you can buy your own drink.

sorry doggydog but in my unworthy opinion, you are pedaling a fairy tale.

i will make any decision to buy or play this game, based on it's actual included content, not any fantasy future content dreams of my own concoction.

i don't beleive for one instant that co-op is not technically achievable or even easily technically achievable for this game. i simply beleive that the development has only a limited amount of resources available to it, and co-op was not a high enough priority for the developers to continue with.

delay the game.
take the time.
add the co-op.

promise this and i will replace my pre-order. short of that i don't currently forsee actually paying for this game.

single player looks very intresting.
multiplayer looks like a total waste of effort.
in my current perception of it's form, i feel that it would not detract from the game, in anyway, not to include it at all.

no co-op booooooooooooo

Well Baff...

i agree to the part where u say that its not a tech prob but a resource prob, and as for the rest i forgot already, but yea coop is ok for a bit but for the most part not worth it, i would only play it at a LAN (co-op kicks ass at LAN's), i dont have time to play the SP mode online when i can do it off line, alone and without needing a net connection.

'Nuff said.

The team irons out the bugs as people play it, no problems with that at all.

The best way for STALKER to be CoOp to me, is a sandbox mode.

I only play OFP and VC because of their coop modes.

Most RPGs have succesfully implimented or revolve around coop, so since Stalker is a FPS with a RPG kind of gameplay. Coop simply should be a part of Stalker. It's frustrating to miss out on such an obvious feature, just because of limited rescources.

Since the AIs and monsters already live their own autonomous lives, it would be a crime to ignore the wonders of coop. Stalker MP, would just be another CTF experience, where you'd miss out on the all the work done on creating wildlife, monsters and AI stalkers.

C'mon... I need coop.

Another reason to add co-op.....everytime I go to clear a building I just KNOW I"m gunna crap my pants at every stairwell, blind turn and T-Section. Not to mention stuff sneaking up on you.

Which all in all is not a bad thing for intense gameplay but it gets more eintesnse when your buddies are involed. Especially if one gets kill without warning(disable the dead from talking), and you find their body.....

Or say you are in the middle of a house, and a huge firefight erupts outside, you have to hurry to help, but your running as fast as you can but can't get there fast enough....

Expansion maybe?

Do a Coop-mode really have to follow any storyline?

For me im just happy if Coop-mode makes it possible to roam "the Zone" along with my friends.
Playing against the NPCs, ambushing patrols and to be able to do whatever we want is more than i can ask for!
Im sure we will have enough fun just to get in the "the Zone" and sneak around without any necessary guidence..
Of course it would be great to get tasks/missions but to me thats not all to important.

If they can make the gameworld "living" in SP they should be able to make it possible in multiplayer to. (i hope)

Thats would be nice. I wouldn't mind playing with a friend or 2 to explore the zone. We would just work our way to the reactore on a suicide mission. Make your missions. Thats a good idea. In game you and your friends could make mission like "first one to the watever or kill this many mutants or kill this many stalkers. Just facing NPCS and making your own missions. Good idea i like it

Yeah its pretty cool. It really lets you enjoy the game more since you you got a friend watching your back. Yeah i guarantee someone will make a coop mod within a month or 2 after the games release even if they release a coop that you have to pay for unless its like 5$

There should be atleast one game mode... FREE FOR ALL!....

Join a team/clan or go loner to find youre relics and stuff....

Maybe clanwars could be made (still dont take out monsters and ai clans) against humans or ai clans.... You could go after relics with youre clan and use them to improve equipment....

Drive thru the field with the apc attacking the other clans base, one guy manning the turret, using it as supressing fire while the others disembark....

Go thru the underground bases, find massive monsters, take them with you if they are willing to co operate with you or blow their heads of if theyre threatning....

Maybe even classes but i think that will come with modZ
