well theres been quite a few videos of stalker on one version of the cryengine or another. so far no completed game tho, so i think people are just a bit wary. some of these are tech demos and others may just be a way to make money

this is called noises of the zone.supposed to be a remake of stalker. currently seeking crowdfunding on the basis of 3 videos. they are looking for 60k to fund development and so far have got nothing. the consensus seems to be that when they release an alpha they may get some doh, otherwise its a scam

Probably never going to happen.

Cryengine is nice and all but so many games use it that looks too generic. X-Ray engine gives stalker that signature look and atmosphere. It could be replicated in a newer engine but it will never happen.

The problem is, they are using stalker assets, which cannot be used in commercial projects, only in free addons or mods.
