Quests for finding rare weapons

Question: I added some optional quests for finding rare weapons. I set the reward the same weapon itself of each quest.
So basically, for example when you are sent to find a Minigun, you deliver it, but your reward is a Minigun back to you, plus some medkits and reputation points.
I made this because I don't want the player to lose the rare weapon.

Is it fine or should it be reworked?

i think the weapon you get back in return should have a bit of damage so you can get it repaired at your cost, but also maybe throw in some antirad or something as a sorry for its condition

But how does it make sense to give Sakharov a full conditioned weapon and after 1 second you get back a worn one? How and when did it lose its condition?

My idea is to make that quest weapon in broken condition, after you bring that weapon back Sakharov will give you back one in excellent condition. Something like in CoP for gauss gun mission.

my thinking on this was that sakharov needs a replacement for the damaged one that he has in his possession and this is the one he gives you for finding a good condition one for him

If I would change the condition of the rare weapons, that would require a newgame start, since the weapons are already spawned.
They are not in all.spawn so I can't even replace them with scripts.
So something else should be done regarding how we should change the quest rewards.

What if you gave the enhanced weapon and in return the scientists gave you the normal version plus some meds/antirads.

Then after you returned every special weapon, Sakharov would have an option to upgrade the normal versions of those weapons to the special versions, and this would cost a certain amount of money.

The problem is that the weapons are not upgraded ones, but unique weapons by their own, with non-vanilla models, like PKM Mounted machine gun, M134 Minigun which is a light gatling gun, or small one-hander machine guns like OTS-33, K-9, Steyr TMP etc.

And also unfortunately there's no upgrade system like in CoP.

What if we do it like the following?

- Weapon quests: give the weapon back plus a vanilla artifact (which are considered as common ingredients after all these interesting transmutations)
- Transmutation quests: give unique weapons and items (like the usable backpack, gps, grenades etc)
- Camp elimination quests give money and medkits, I think it can stay as is
- Find mutant parts are only 3 quests, I'll see what should they drop

So what are your opinions guys? Your ideas are good but too hard to achieve or not worth the newgame start.
