My questions, feedback, issues, and thoughts about LA

Hai, I've been playing this mod (or game, rather) for a few days now and I have some questions and feedback.

1. How come when you place things like the 25kg fuel barrels in a stash or car, then take it out, the car bounces quite aggressively or the stash box (like the one in the Bar) starts floating? If you do this repeatedly to the stash box, eventually the box gets high enough that it knocks stuff off the table above it and disappears. Yet hitting F where the box used to be still opens it up even though it isn't there. Also this happens when retrieving my stuff back from the stash box after fighting in the Arena.

2. Stash lagspikes. Another stash related question (Dragons like to hoard things, don't judge )... Is there a way to ever fix the epic lagspike when entering the starter town when you have a ton of stuff in the dresser in the bunker? I remember this being a problem in original Stalker too and having to resort to storing my stuff in a permanent corpse. Is this still recommended?

3. Huge framerate drop. I don't know the reason behind this, but in the wild territory... whenever I would fire in full auto... the game would drop to slideshow FPS until I let go of the trigger. I use an overclocked GTX 680, so I know it's not a weak GPU issue. Any ideas? I suspect it strangely has something to do with my personal stash being moved to that area.

4. Blowouts/Psi Storms. Why when a Blowout or Psi Storm begins to start, NPCs just cover their ears like babies and die for no reason instead of running for the nearest shelter? Like... they just quickly die before anything bad even starts happening. Is there something I'm immune to that they aren't or something?

5. Cars. Yeah you probably hear a lot of complaints about these. lol How wrong was I when I thought I'd be safe in my car vs a pack of dogs. XD Clearer routes for driving would be extremely helpful and much appreciated to make up for the crazy car problems imo. I mean it's not impossible, but things like the tree blocking the bridge in Garbage does make things a little unnecessarily tricky only due to how weird the cars act. D: Please don't remove them despite all the negative comments about them though, I still like 'em. Wish they didn't consume fuel so fast though. x_x Edit: Personally I don't feel the Niva Tuned belongs in the zone btw. Cars like the VAZ-2103 Zhiguli look great for it though!

6. Weapon upgrades. A lot of the upgrades don't really do anything apparently. For example, you can still equip a grenade launcher without having the upgrade for it. Also I'm not really digging it. It reminds me of Call of Pripyat's system and I didn't really like that a whole lot because too many choices to make. lol With Lost Alpha, it feels a lot worse because you can only have 3 upgrades max on any weapon afaik instead of multiple paths like CoP. D: Personally I'd like to either see this system gone, or at least come up with something better plz and maybe a little more realistic? Like there's no reason a grenade launcher upgrade should interfere with an extended mag upgrade if you know what I mean. Making us choose between things like fire rate and accuracy seems fair though.

7. Large stockpiles of ammunition. Is it possible to choose how much of something you want to take/store? I mean... it takes quite a long time clicking to withdraw a couple thousand rounds. Also, a "store all" button would be nice like the "take all" button.

8. Random NPC/mutants. More of this please... the zone feels a little too empty and lacking of NPC activity sometimes. D:

9. Flashlights. Idk about anyone else, but I'm not too crazy about that spiky effect around the edges of the flashlight when it's on. And it doesn't shine very far either. Buff plz?

10. Broken stash. I'm playing on the 3rd patch btw, and I found the location to the stash in the pipes outside Strelok's hideout but no matter what I do I cannot access it. I press F all over that pipe... you could say I F'd that pipe up for a really long time. XD But no dice though! Previously, I thought maybe it's on the surface or in a higher room or something, but then I saw someone go near it in a YouTube video and the "Press F to search stash" message thing popped up so that confirmed that it's broken for me. Know any way to fix this? It's like it doesn't exist yet the stash icon remains forever on my map. The stash is called Leftovers of a Hunt.

Well that's all for now. Hopefully the issues I'm having will be fixed in the DC. Just wanna help ya'll to make the perfect Stalker experience by sharing my thoughts in this post. The only other things I'd like to see is probably just more and more weapons! And maybe dedicated player stashes in main base areas that don't lag the game up.

Loving this mod so far, and of all the Stalker mods I've played, this one has the potential to be my favourite.

Thanx for your time,
Dragon

Let me put together some thoughts about current version of LA as well.

Model of Lost Alpha
The way to to keep player engaged is to present them with interesting challenges and keep up the variety and contrasts, in order to prevent player's impression on the game to sink into feeling of repetition.
Two things: good gameplay and synergized contrasts are neccesary.

Gunplay
Gunplay presents challenges and contrasts by different types of mutants and human enemies, but where it falls short is gun departament. There is no incentive to try different weapons after having acquired and upgraded a good weapon, because all guns on field are expected to be worse in comparison.
Aside from that, AI have flaws and can show heavily off-putting performances, such as enemies trying to walk through closed doors and ignoring player's presence while getting attacked.

Exploration
Exploration is the contrasting element of gameplay which synergizes with gunplay, which plays a big role in preventing game from becoming repetitive and also makes great use of game's open world'ness and level design.
It can be seperated in few trees:
1) finding and looting stash locations;
2) finding and looting artifacts;
3) exploring random stuff for fun.
All 3 of aspects aren’t made at sufficient level yet at this stage of game developement. Glitch prevents player from finding stashes from picking corpses unless game is reloaded, artifacts are yet waiting to get some work done for them, while exploring random stuff doesn’t give any satisfaction when that stuff isn’t properly placed in levels yet.

Level design
The many, big and vast levels in LA creates big gaps between sections of gameplay, which means that impression on game can easily fall into category of feeling emptiness and boredom. Therefore game needs more frequent "sections of gameplay" by having more interactive stuff in levels, if we want to utilize this size of levels instead of letting them be counter-productive.

Story
I feel like the story in LA is it’s weakest point, as it should be the backbone behind playthrough of entire game and it fails in so many or perhabs even all departaments. Terrible cutscenes, plot holes, backtracking, suicide missions... Tell me one good thing about LA’s story, because I’d like to know if there is anything good I’ve missed. I think that it needs a complete revamp, because it doesn’t need to be just decent, but it can become into something great.

Use a perma corpse but beware, they might *explode* spreading your stash all over if you place too much in it.

How much is too much? XD

I tend to keep one of each weapon to try em out for variety's sake, and all the ammunition I ever pick up rly. Also, enough foods/meds to never have to worry about that kinda stuff. My biggest concern is those 25kg fuel barrels. Do you even need em for anything? o: Or are they just stash destroyers with no purpose?

Oh yeah and a stupid amount of petrol and batteries because of how insanely fast they drain. Does anyone know if it's possible to change this and how? *shrugs* I'm sure I'll find the answer if I look for it.

Have never tried it but a few thousand objects should do the trick as far as I understand.

As for now the fuel drums are filler but you could use them by luring enemies to them, then blow them up using a grenade or shoot at them. Takes a few shots to make them blow up IIRC.

If the limits are anything like in SoC then a permacorpse can hold 65 exos at 15kg each. That's 975kg and doesn't sound a lot. I've had 30,000 rounds and more of 5.56 in a stash, along with other stuff.

I think the limits are pretty high, even for a packrat. But there's no reason you can't use more than one stash. I usually have one for weapons, one for ammo, one for artifacts, etc. These can be subdivided later if they start getting heavy.

I'd dump the red fuel barrels. As PCDania said, their only use is killing folks - they don't work for fuelling vehicles. They're okay for killing someone without getting the blame, though. After all, if you shoot a barrel and it explodes and kills someone, you didn't do it. You shot the barrel. The barrel killed the guy.

Hopefully every single bullet doesn't count as an 'object' or I might be in trouble. ^_^
