CHAPTER 16
“Advancing”

Gustav was looking at his men exorcizing in the courtyard. He had become the new leader of UFOTZ since Rayoji had been killed. They were moving out to Pripyat soon, so Gustav had recruited a lot new members. Not much had happened lately, which made things even better for the UFOTZ loyalists. Every time they had planned to move out, then either the the renegade UFOTZ or as the UFOTZ loyalists call them; “the Zealots” had attacked them, or like when Rayoji had been killed by a stalker named Vasili. “Sir, I've gathered a group of special soldiers to investigate how we can get to Pripyat with out getting the Zealots attention” a soldier said. “very well. Tell them that I will join them.” Gustav stated. “are you sure you want to do that? I mean, they are traveling underground, and who knows what creatures lives down there.” the soldier then replied. Gustav nodded with out further thought, and then walked out to the group. The group consisted of five soldiers heavily armed in exosuits, each with different weapons and professions. Alex Dupree, a specialist in explosives. Genka Sinizky, a heavy assault specialist. Senka Ibrakan, the group's technician. Andrei Bogdanov, the groups marksman. Then, there's Diniska Smirvov, the group leader. Gustav saluted them, and then said “Attention! All of you have been gathered to do a special mission. The mission is vital for our future, and not to mention every other stalker's future. Rustik have gathered a new army of mutated soldiers, and they are increasing by the minute. Scout reports tell us that the mutants doesn't want to attack the Zealots, but instead, the Zealots are using them as
guard dogs or using them in the field, usually by following the Zealots. The reason for this is unclear, but what is even more strange is that they are not communicating with each other at all.
Its like that the zone controls them, and tells them what to do. As far as we know, Rustik could be dead. So, the mission goals are to clear a path to Pripyat that's secure and where the Zealots can't
see us. After that, then we will contact HQ and they will send in the troops. Then we will back-stab
the Zealots and kill them once and for all!” he finished his sentence while yelling, and the soldiers
yelled “HOORAH!” in reply. The group took off in an APC, traveling to Duty to tell them their plans. When they arrived at the bar, there was flames raising from buildings and they could hear gunfire and explosions near them. Gustav saw a dark silhouette crouching up in a tower with an RPG. Gustav tried to warn the other soldiers in the APC, but it was too late. The missile sliced its way through the air and hit the APC's rear end, tearing the engine to shreds. Gustav jumped away from the APC just in time, as did Alex. After the dust had settled, Gustav shouted “Guys, you there?” there was no response from the team, only the smell of burning rubber and the loud sounds of gunfire. Gustav took cover as another missile landed right beside him. His ears was bleeding, and a fragment had teared its way through his leg. “ARG FUCK!” he yelled, as he was unable to move on the ground. Then suddenly, Andrei appeared and rushed over to Gustav. He quickly fired several rounds at the tower with his Steyr scout sniper rifle. He bandaged Gustav's wounds and got him up on his feet. He half carried Gustav over the street and placed him in cover. “GENKA! GET ME SOME MED KITS NOW!” Andrei yelled while he was giving them covering fire. Genka rushed over to Gustav and gave him morphine. A squadron of three soldiers moved down the street, all
armed and ready to kill. Andrei saw them and shot several rounds, each bullet taking a life.
Gustav saw that each member of the team survived, and they were now building cover with sandbags or other kinds of trash. Gustav now saw who the enemy was. It was the Zealots.
Diniska pulled out his M60-SAW machine gun and started to fire multiple salves of bullets.
A group of five soldiers moved down the street, but not for very long. Alex fired a missile with his RPG, blowing them to pieces. Senka pulled out his Steyr AUG and started to fire on a soldier that
was moving through the streets. The soldier stumbled and finally fell, leaving one hell of a mess of blood. A helicopter appeared, apparently colored in the Zealots colors. (black and white).
“WHAT? I THOUGHT THAT THE ARMY ONLY HAD THOSE!” Senka shouted. The chopper
fired several missiles, devastating the line of cover that the squad just had placed. Alex got blown back because of the explosion, hammering him into a wall. The helicopter then fired with all its machine guns, making sure that nothing on the street was moving. Senka had pulled Alex in cover just in time, and the rest of the squad also took cover in a building. They reached the top floor, and they all aimed at the helicopter that wasn't aware of their presence. Alex was knocked out, so Gustav picked up his RPG and fired at the helicopter, blowing its tale off. The helicopter started swinging and sinking to the ground with high speed. They saw the crew that fell out of the helicopter, falling fifty meters to the ground. The helicopter crashed head first down in the street, its propels still swinging around. A massive explosion occurred, followed by smoke and flames.
Then, a message appeared on the radio. “Listen! Rostok is under heavy attack by the Zealots!
Every stalker is welcome to join us in the fight. We are heavily outnumbered by them, and they have APCs. Please help!”. The message was sent from Voronin, who currently was sitting in the Duty base. “Come on guys, lets give Duty a helping hand!” Gustav shouted to the group. They moved down the street, grouping up with several Duty soldiers on the way. They reached the Duty base, where they were planning on how to destroy the Zealots forces. “I am telling you, they are not running out of troops! They just keep coming!” Voronin exclaimed. “You saw the helicopter with your own eyes! They are properly sending in more troops as we speak!” he continued. “Listen, if we just get somebody to take out their snipers, then our troops would have the advantage!” Gustav replied. “Alright, we will do it your way.... I hope you are right Gustav. Send some of your men, and my men will cover you” Voronin said finally. Gustav nodded in reply and rounded up his men.
“okay listen up... Andrei and Senka, you will stay hidden in the buildings and sneak up on the enemy soldiers, while the rest of the squad will cover you. If you see any wounded Duty members on the way, help them and send them back to base. Got it?” Gustav asked. “Yes sir!” Andrei and Senka said in reply. They moved up in the open again, where the Duty soldiers were holding off the Zealots. Diniska placed his M60-SAW machine gun at a sand bag and started to fire, and soon the rest of the squad joined him. Gustav ran over to the other side of the street, then gave Andrei and Senka orders to to enter the the office building. He gave covering fire as they ran to the building, and then entered it. It was foggy and dark, and they could still hear gunfire and explosions from outside. They continued up the building to the third floor, where they looked for any unaware snipers. Several “pops” sounded from Andrei's rifle, followed by gun smoke. Senka covered the door if any zealots were to enter. Then, Senka heard deep foot steps from the other room. He counted to three and then jumped in the room while shooting everything in the room. Three Zealot
soldiers fell to the ground, squirming in pain. Senka reloaded as they were about to get up on their feet again, and then shot each soldier in the head two times, making sure that the brain was destroyed. Then, an RPG missile hit the other side of the room, blasting the wall to pieces and knocking Senka down with a huge explosion. Andrei entered the room and got Senka on his feet and then carried him out of the room. “Come on lad, you are gonna make it!” he yelled while he was hurrying out of the room with Senka on his shoulders. Two soldiers entered the end of the room, quickly jumping to cover while shooting at Andrei and Senka. Andrei dropped Senka gently down on the floor and picked up his Steyr AUG. he made one of the soldiers to Swiss cheese with
it, using a whole magazine, splattering blood and guts all over the room. Senka pulled his pistol and
shot the remaining soldier three times in the head, making sure that he was dead. “Listen, Andrei and Senka, GET OUT OF THE BUILDING! ITS RIGGED WITH EXPLOSIVES AND IT COULD
GO OFF ANY MINUTE NOW!” Gustav shouted over the radio. “Roger that commander, we are on our way. Andrei picked up Senka, and started to run again. Andrei just exited the building with Senka on his shoulders as the building exploded and started flaming, sending debris and bricks
flying all over the place. Andrei sat Senka down just outside the building, where he was in cover.
He saw that the Zealots were retreating, and he shot as many as he could while they were running.
“This is Andrei to Gustav, do you read?” Andrei asked over the radio. “Loud and clear, Andrei. Whats your status?” Gustav replied. “i am okay, but I don't know about Senka. I think his leg is hurt, because he can't walk” Andrei told Gustav. Seconds of silence passed, then Gustav said “Roger. Be there soon to pick him up”.

CHAPTER 17
ROAD TO PRIPYAT

Andrei measured the distance between the group and the Jupiter Plant.
there was a long way between them, and it would take at least one day to get there. it would have been much easier if they still had the APC, but it got blown up at Rostok.
-so, when are we there?
Genka asked eager as a little child waiting for a candy store to open.
not weird that he was eager. he wanted to get out of the Jupiter region. it was full of weird stuff, mainly the many zombies walking around. not to mention the many anomalies and the occasional Zealot raid.

-well not soon anyways. properly a days walk. not to mention that we have to go the last part of the way underground. and you know what that means.

Andrei replied shortly after. the underground was filled with every kind of mutant that lives in the zone, but worse, sometimes new mutants that no one had ever seen. The underground was also heavily guarded
by the Zealots, as the underground was the only way to get to Pripyat without having to do a suicide attack on the city, because the City was filled with hordes of Zealot soldiers.

they continued their trip to the Jupiter Plant in silence. but sometimes the soldiers would chat with each other, talking about their adventures in the Zone, or just joking or catching up with each other. a sudden explosion occurred right beside them, scattering them with the blast.

-Casualties?
Gustav shouted.

-no, we're good
Diniska shouted in reply.

they quickly got on their feet and ran over to cover behind the rest of a little shed.

-Who's the enemy?
Genka asked.

Andrei quickly scouted the place, but then turned around with a lightning fast movement. shortly after that, several bullets flew beside them.

-Zealots. and lots of them. but there are also a Duty squad fighting them. should we help?

Andrei replied, while looking at Gustav, seeking permission to blast the Zealots to oblivion. Gustav nodded shortly, and Andrei turned around yet again with his rifle, firing multiple rounds, each of them sending a zealot to the ground, forcing a scream of pain out of them. Genka rushed to a tree, pulling out his XM8 LMG, and started to tear apart the Zealots soldiers. the five men Duty squad moved down to the shed, seeking cover while the UFOTZ loyalists covered them. the last remaining Zealot soldiers continued in a group, all ready to unleash hell on the UFOTZ loyalists. Alex was quick, and launched his RPG missile at them, blowing them to pieces, sending guts and meat chunks flying everywhere.

-Woah.... that was some nice shooting their Alex.
Gustav muttered.

Alex grinned in reply and then looked at the Duty soldiers.

-So, what are you guys doing out here?
Alex then asked one of the Dutiers.

-we're heading to the Jupiter Plant. some of our squads are having constant skirmishes with the Zealots up there. you?

the lead dutier said.

-well, we are heading up there too. we are going to Pripyat, to launch an assault on their base. so we are heading underground.

Gustav replied. he saw that the Duty squad traveled with an APC. he then asked that if the UFOTZ loyalists could join them on the way. hours went by as the two groups were heading up to the Jupiter Plant, and then finally arrived. an RPG round smashed through the cockpit, killing the driver and lighting the APC on fire. the two squads quickly rushed out before the APC blew up in a massive explosion. "Fuck! stepan is down!" one of the Dutiers yelled.

they rushed to cover behind another APC, where the the Dutier that was in charge of the operation was standing.

-Whats the situation?
Gustav asked.

-Well, we have killed all of the Zealots ground troops but they've got us pinned down here. they have a whole bunch of snipers positioned at a tower, and we can't shoot them because they are to far away. you don't happen to have an RPG do ya?

the lead dutier asked.

-yeah we got one. we will take out that sniper nest, don't you worry
Gustav replied.

Gustav ordered Alex to take out the snipers. Alex jumped away from the APC with his RPG. he quickly took aim, and launched the missile. then, a bullet hit him in the chest. he fell backwards, gasping for air. the missile on the other hand, continued up and blew the tower to pieces. the snipers fell thirty meters to the ground, smashing them with a very strong force, killing them in an instant. hours passed and they patched up Alex. the Squad stood in a large hangar, waiting to get underground. the ground before them opened up, and an elevator appeared.

-okay guys, this is it. there is no going back once we go into the place.
Gustav told the squad.

-hey, say "hi" to the UFOTZ loyalists army when they get here.
he yelled to the lead Dutier.

he nodded in reply, and then activated the elevator, slowly pulling the squad down in the darkness of the underground......
