Think about all the rooms in the sky scrapers. There would be so many, that making all of them ineresting/worth visiting would take months. If they just made them all from a set of 12 or say, and repeated them randomly, it would be worhtless, because they would all be repetative. I'd imagine most other building would becompletely accesible though.

They've HAD months.... and just added a few since the release date has been changed to Q4 2004 instead of Q3. By now we deserve 85-95% accessibility.

Day 5: getting a little hungry you spot a large bird. Being the crack shot you are you pop it out of the sky. Now all you have to do is leave the 15th floor of the building, grab the bird, and head back.

Wheeeee.

I really don't think the devs owe us anything. After all they aren't forcing you to buy the game

I don't really see a need to model rooms for every building. Most of the action won't be inside buildings. A few important ones here and there are enough to provide a good gaming experiance

Having all rooms accessible is more for multiplayer then single-player. It would be extremely annoying in multiplayer to only have accesss to 3 rooms in a skyscraper if you're running away looking for cover.

On the contrary - that would prove highly annoying if you're playing Survivor and have to search for the last remaining enemy in several hundred appartments. In SP though, it would contribute to the realism. Besides, not all need to be accessible in a skyscraper, just one or two per floor (some floors being messed up so that none at all are) still gives the desired effect.

Also, I'm pretty sure something nice can be whipped up with random generating algorithms - the rooms will be the same shape (obviously, it being an appartment block and all) but completely random rubble and furnishings.

The main thing is to have exploration be rewarded - allowing you to maybe find books and newspapers from before the catastrophe (as well as just some other interesting items) as well as artifacts.
