Car Damage?

Will there be realistic vehicle damage when you crash into stuff or get shot at. I know the suspension is incredible from the trailer with the man falling on the car but if anyone knows if there will be realistic damage like smashing into a tree and your hood crumples and stuff like that.

I wouldn't care so much about visual damage as, getting shot in the door shouldn't do any damage to the cars live, while shooting the front (engine) should possibly disable it.

P.S. watch out for those moving trees.

Ya I agree but if they are going for realism and they have all those fluid postures and everything and you have to eat, why not do realistic car damage. If they dont want to take the time they just make some shitty grand theft auto style damage. But I would love to see realistic damage animation

Any car damage is acceptable, but the more realistic the better.

If I remember correctly it was stated somewhere maybe an interview that there will most likely not be visible damage to the vehicles in the forum of damaged panneling and windows but that the vehciles mechanics could be damaged and wear and therefore needing repair maintanence.

The problem with depicting busted up cars taking dynamic damage is that you have to buy the licensing from the car makers to depict that as it is related to their public image. Thats why you see most car games with dynamic damage having non reality cars that are similar to real cars but different enough to avoid licensing issues.

Sidenote: It was however mentioned in an interview that as they drove the vehciles around in ditry/muddy areas a different layers of grime and dirt began to build up on the outside of the vehicle.

They have to buy the rights to make realistic car damage for a Moskvich? or a Niva 4x4? or a KAMAZ truck? These are not brand names I beleive but just names of the types of cars. Im sure Kamaz Autos wont care lol.

Depends on russian/ukraine legalities really.

But its the same reason why you'll see say a Dodge Ram or Ford Mustang with the logos missing in tv shows and movies. It costs to get the rights to display those logos. I onced asked the production lead for the old Need for Speed 2 in IRC chat why dynamic damage wasn't done and bascially it was that Porsche, BMV, and etc wouldn't give them the go ahead without signficantly inflated licensing.

This is why in Grand Turismo 2 there are no 'Porsche' cars because Porsche's license was extravegantly priced so instead they put in the RUFF cars which by German law are not a porshe because of how extensively the car has been modified from stock even though their bought stock from Porsche.

i really want bullet holes and stuff to stay on your car, if only for the sake of being able to say stuff like in the movies.

like if you're in a shootout and your car gets shot full of holes "ohh, no.. not my car" ;_;

and then you're driving around a hunk of swiss cheese lol
