EDIT: Found another bug, shooting the NPC who gives you arena fights cause the game to CTD, even vanilla didn't have this issue. I'll go and slaughter some more NPCs around the Bar to see if any causes more CTDs.
---END QUOTATION---

I'm quite certain that while testing Crucible, Arnie had been killed before without causing any CTD's. Shooting him now does not cause a CTD on my comp.
I just added an immunities section to Barman's data and he no longer dies or causes CTD's. Even though the data I added is not part of the Vanilla data...
In addition, I know full well Petrenko and Voronin have been killed recently without any problems.

Between your ability to kill NPC's resulting in CTD's and the appearance of the minimap, I'm guessing there is some sort of data conflict on you HDD?
Unless someone else has had the minimap display as well?

If you're game, you can always try a clean install of Stalker to 1.005 and a clean install of Crucible.

Out of curiosity though, what are the exact error messages listed in the
' xray_admin.log ' file once a CTD occurs when shooting unique NPC's?

Just roamed around the Zone some more, killing some unique chars including the Freedom and Duty leaders and traders, no CTDs so far.

Strange, there's usually something written there but whenever I get the CTD, it stays blank.

EDIT: Oh yeah, forgot to mention, I noticed that you can get past the Freedom guy guarding the armory unlike in vanilla. Would it be possible to make him turn hostile if you went past him if you're not a member of Freedom yet?

I'm sure it would be possible, but if I was to do such a thing I'd rather he strikes you with his rifle butt. If you respond to his assault and kill him you'd then be in the middle of an entire base of hostile Freedom Stalkers...

On a diferent note I managed to add the stamina meter with some hassle. It turns out, not only did they alter the settings but they also altered the corresponding texture file as well....

I managed to find a box of dynamite. I tried shooting it, but it didn't detonate. Turns out it only detonates due to explosions, fire and electricity. I'm pretty sure dynamites in real life would detonate if struck with even a small bullet. Modern explosives like C4 don't but dynamites do.

Pfft. Screw the box of dynamite, I've just created a satchel charge!

All that it requires is first person animations, as the third person work a treat by sheer coincidence. It is admittedly derived from a grenade so the NPC AI run away in panic, but I'll see if I can set it so that the satchel charge won't cause panic. Monster AI of course won't know any better.

So the reason for the box of dynamite was an initial attempt to create an explosive that could be placed into position, not thrown, that wouldn't cause the AI to freak. That way you could time an ambush with an explosive or set up a 'roadside bomb' type situation with something more powerful than a grenade. One major shortcoming is that there are not many instances where the AI will gladly wander on mass towards an ambush point. Aside from the Soldier patrols at Cordon and Agroprom and the Monolith assault at Army Wharehouses.
However, if I can set the AI to not realize what the satchel charge is, then we can have all sorts of fun.

- Duty sympathizer chats to Lukash in a casual manner, drops a satchel charge, walks away and then ten seconds later... Lukash has adorned his own walls. -

Would you mind moving some of the level transition points back as they were in vanilla? The Bar->Army Warehouses one is placed unnecessarily farther away and the Army Warehouses->Bar is right on top of an irradiated spot.

EDIT: I also noticed a few more things:

"Come in, don't stand there" guy from the Bar can never survive blowouts, being stuck in his post
Amount of arena prize money is the same as in vanilla, you might want to reduce them a bit and make it scale properly with the economy of your mod
Sometimes the traders will refuse to buy any of your items

VicRattlehead, the blank CTDs and the appearance of the HUD minimap where none is expected could be a consequence of virtual store in Vista/Windows 7 combined with a prior installation of a mod. Even when you remove the other mod, the OS just hides it from you. But when you run STALKER, it is under the "execute" permission of the "trusted installer" (a different user) so it uses stuff from the older mod mixed with the newer mod.

csoldier, it might also be possible to use a hard space ("no-break" space), which is 0xA0 or 144 for screen text output, instead of 255. I don't know what 255 is, but it is 127 (DELETE) with the high-order bit set.

I've been out of town for a few days...

Firstly, thanks for the suggestions NatVac and in regards to the weapon jam message, I did manage to get it to work with ALT + 255.

1. I shifted the Army Wharehouse / Bar level changer point so that you wouldn't be ambushed by the Dolg squad straight away if you had already upset Duty. Otherwise it can be tweaked.

2. The Bar guards death is a result of the O.L.2.2 blowout settings. I've been meaning to look into adding more ' safe houses ' for Crucible, so if anyone knows of a blowout hideout tutorial / guide let me know.

3. VicRattleHead, if said Bar guard is still anouncing "Come in, don't stand there", then that is another mix up at your end, as I set that NPC to anounce the Russian "Put your weapon away" sound file.

4. I'm quite sure I changed the amount of Arena prize money and even tested it, but I'll have to check.

5. As for traders, I've already increased the weight they can carry for the next version.

I'm on Windows XP so that probably isn't it.

I do have him speaking in Russian, I just called him that because that is what I've been calling him for the longest time when playing various mods and vanilla.

Also, I noticed that some mutants go down incredibly fast in this mod. I was able to take out a Pseudogiant and a controller in less than five 5.56 rounds each.

You said that you adjusted the stashes so they would become just a 'low level aid'. However, I've encountered multiple stashes that have given me as much as two rare suits in perfect condition at once or an extremely rare and high-performance gun along with plenty of ammo.

Well, SP3 versions have updated Volume Shadow Copy support, like the later OSes. I'm using a cut-down version of SP2, so I don't know when that was actually updated, but it is still a possibility if you have used another big mod and didn't uninstall/delete/reinstall.

But you are right -- it probably isn't that. Very strange, though, if you install the updated file and it still shows a mini-map. It may not be a duck, but it's still quacking up.
