All i can say is thanks mate, this guy has been following my mod since day 1, and he always gave me tips on how to improve, not modding tips, but really helpful things like taking breaks sometimes (i was updating the page for over 10 times a day)

ALL particles, the "mod" with the guns added in is under construction though. There are some bugs to fix (icon fixes etc) and text. But, gameplay wise its done, everything is set This version is really for level and mod builders, so they can use the arsenal of newly created particles. You can too, just put it in priboi, amk, Pe3 and you will notice difference (i made it compatible with most big mods, except AMK NS+DMX)

Then could I use the laser particle effect in my modded weapons as firing particle (e.g. in flame_particles)? Could you please give me the name of that particle?

I got a CTD after adding your mod's gamedata contents and starting a new game:

Can't find texture 'pfx\pfx_ani-fire01_pp'

Any hints?

EDIT 2:
The problems seems to come from my Helicopter AI mod which has its own particle.xr file. Any idea how to resolve this (e.g. merge)?

Ofcourse! Here are the names:

_ecp\weapons\lasers\laser_red

_ecp\weapons\lasers\laser_extreme

_ecp\weapons\lasers\laser_green

_ecp\weapons\lasers\laser_blue

_ecp\weapons\lasers\laser_white

_ecp\weapons\lasers\laser_yellow

And about merging, you cant merge particles. Only in the older versions of Xray i find it very annoying too mate, but it is how it is. And the crash is fixed now. Hope you like it

After fixing this by copying some other texture, the next one is missing:
pfx\pfx_bubble_effect2
and after that

Still?? I dont have that crash and i uploaded my whole gamedata...well, try to find the normal pfx_bubble_effect, and make a copy and rename it to pfx_bubble_effect1. Will try and fix it soon (got much test on school)

That's exactly what I did for the first 3 crashes with the first 3 missing texture files. After I feared this would never end, so I stopped doing so.

So it seems that I am missing several files. Did you build the mod to put on top of some other mod (like AMK), or just for the vanilla game? You might have installed those textures from an other mod which I don't have installed. And what is the required minimum patch version?

There is no patch required, but i do recommend 10004 or 10005. And, i will look into the texture file now, finally done with my homework.
Will write back when im done testing...

Ok, i found out the problem, seems to be my lack of concentration. I somehow managed to not update the textures, but only particles in that gamedata file with the newer version of PPx (Build 2604). So i updated it, and got it to work, will fix (hopefully) for the last time this gamedata.

Not yet, i am busy with some other particles i'd like to include, its an fix. So when barrels explode, people wont get 5FPS. Sorry, but many ppl complained about that and its my task to fix it

and i gotta learn trough the modding, well i got to mod trough learning, many test this week

But then vacation!

I don't have a screenshot atm, but as a description of what I mean:

First of all, you don't really see the laser beam going away from your gun. You see only the "end" of it, maybe half an inch or so at the center of the screen. The blue laser seems to be the only exception where you can see much more of the ray (or beam), maybe starting about 1 meter away from your gun, but only very soft and not really clear.

For my purpose, I would need a constant clear beam starting near the muzzle end and continuing through the "whole screen" (like a "real" laser).

Second, I don't know what exactly the problem is, but it somehow looks unrealistic that the beam stops suddenly in the screen's center and reaches its brightest point when it should be the opposite; I think it should rather get thinner and thinner (and softer as well) until it fades seamlessly into the void - sure, I have know idea if it's possible to do it this way...

Also, there should be a red version that is very constant light, no jitter or noise or shiver, just one straight ray (again, like a real laser).

The light is a problem yeah, i cant fade out the beam, but i will make the laser itself thinner, with no jitter

Some problems

Hi to all, i hope to be posting in the right thread!
I want to report some problems i found with Particle paradise 2.1.1.9x Particles.

First my problem: CTD when starting new game

This is with soc 1.0004. I had former tried with soc 1.0005 (then uninistalled and tried with 1.0004).
My specs: win7x64, sapphire 5850 (cata 11.4), core2duo e6300, asus p5b deluxe wifi ap, ram 2*2 gb team elite, samsung spinpoint F3 1 TB. No OC.

I had tested PP3 in COP and no issues found.

Then i report some slowdowns in 2 configurations of some other stalkers. They have tried with PP 2.1.1.9x + Autumn Aurora (i must say that screens posted with this two mods in combination are absolutely awesome! ). I report what they said to me:
The problem is mainly in Pripyat, it seems that sometimes the GPU doesn't work well, in the parking underpass the GPU was at 5% load with 3 fps, and then he should change level to return to 60fps. If he pull out the PP, loading the savegame in the Pripyat parking started @ 60 fps with no slowdowns...

In addition he tested some memory use in the travel from Pypyat to Red Forest:
Aurora+Particles max Vram 700MB, max RAM occupied by game 3GB (starts from 2,5)
Only Aurora max Vram 750MB, max RAM occupied by game 2,5GB (start from 2,25)
This @max details (i think @ 1600*900).

The pc of this test is this: Asus P6T Deluxe, i7 920 step C0 @2,67 Ghz, RAM 3x2gb DDR3 1600 Mhz 8-8-8-24 Corsair Dominator,Seagate 7200.11 2x500gb raid 0, VGA Zotac GTX 570,Vista Ultimate 64bit
dunno which soc version

The other PC that has had similar problems, with soc 1.0004:
asus p7p55d pro, core i5 750, xfx hd 5850, ocz 4GB kit 2*2GB ddr3-1600 obsidian xtc value cas9, ssd:intel X25-M 80 GB, hd:2x western digital sataII 320 GB RE3 16Mb 7200rpm, windows 7 home premium 64 bit

We all have used the version found @ moddb.

I don't know if this is known, and i'm sorry if can't be more precise, hope this helps.

i think your issue is that you downloaded the wrong version, i already fixed that bug, but still the moddb servers did not safe the newer file on their servers. try DLing it again, from the filefront mirror and moddb, one of them needs to be the newer updated version.

And i got the lag issues too yeah, i need to make the particles less strong, they are really extreme on some people their GPU. i will enhance the particles and update the build.

Thats the crysis system, my pc is:

Intel Quad Q9550 @3.41GHz
3x2 GB DDR2 1066 corsair mem
ASUS P5q Deluxe
Nvidia GTX260 Black Edition (same specs as a GTX275)

Thats it. The other is:

Intel Quad Q9550 @3.41GHz
2x2 GB DDR2 1066 corsair mem
ASUS P5n-t Deluxe Nvidia 720i SLI chip
Nvidia SLi GTX275 OC Twin Frozr (2x)

But the last one will be upgraded to an i7 950 or 980, with more mem and maybe a DX11 card. Like the GTX590 or HD6950

Merging isnt a option, you cant merge these files. ill need to write down all the custom particles of complete and program them in my file. :\ its kinda much work

Really? Because when I downloaded patch 001b a lot of textures were using CS and not SoC names Think I'll just twiddle my thumbs a bit longer waiting for moddb to get their thumb out their arse and "authorise" your upload for the SoC textures. At least I'll know if the other download was just borked or something.
