I -can- just kill him but that just fails the quest, since you're meant to wait until he kills the guy. Is there anything I can do with this quest or should I just call it quits and leave it unfinished (or fail it)?

I think I got my detector from a stash but never found it vital as mine's are best tackled at night and transitions can be found without.

Your sniper quest is bugged and I would start again from the grain elevator or barman as it would irritate me.

Yeah.. thought that may be the case :/ I think I'll just deliberately fail it and hope that he will give me more quests later, because there's no way I'm going back 20 hours just for that quest.

As for the mine detector, the problem is that some teleporters WILL NOT activate without it apparently.. for example, at Yantar, there should be one by the dead soldier in the factory, to Thompson's hideout (or at least that's what I've read since I got stuck there too hah) but for me that teleporter is just not there at all. I wonder if I'll get lucky with some stash since it seems Sid is never going to sell it. Ah well.

I agree 20 hrs is too much and Sid might be pissed but won't stop giving jobs.
The trans near the body is on the pipe above, just where it bends upwards. You can jump from the adjacent building or, as I did, up the stairs to the roof of the building before the body and jump on the pipe - to the trans point.

Ah, found it.. was looking at a slightly wrong location BTW, one quest for Sid is to bring him a bunch of artefacts, one of which is Shell. Now, from memory this artifact wasn't in the original SoC, only CS and CoP.. where can I find it in OGSE.. some Electro anomalies, perhaps?

The only time I can remember detecting one was in the middle of the scrap hill to the right of the garbage-bar duty checkpoint; I don't think its born in electric?

I'd used "demo_record 1" and flew over it while checking something else.

Well, damn.. it seems that the spawn is completely random, but still, pretty rare. I managed to find it in one of the mounds on Garbage, but then had to reload an earlier save for other reasons.. next time I went to the same spot.. aaaand to all the other spots in Garbage, the artifact was not there. Here's hoping it can randomly spawn in one of the other hotspots xD

Speaking of hard to find artifacts, freaking Beehive quest. OGSE would be a lot better if half the quests weren't bugged. Apparently you are meant to get a location which spawns the corpse of the bandit in Dark Valley after you talk to the stalker guard next to the doctors in the Bar area. In my case, the guy basically told me nothing useful, my quest log says I have to comb the entire Dark Valley but the bandit corpse/quest search area are not showing up, while there is no more dialogue left with any of the damned quest NPCs. Looks like another quest that I won't be able to finish..

I don't suppose you have a save file with this quest and elevator guest completed, but around the time you are supposed to go to the Army Warehouses for the first time? Also, I guess you'd also need to run this OGSE mod by Drakoon, so I suppose you don't have it xD I'm generally OCD about failing quests, it's bad enough that in OGSE you HAVE to fail some, but then all the bloody bugs.. it's just really starting to hamper my enjoyment of the game..

I restarted with wasp3 and have done the elevator but never heard of the Beehive quest or the Dr in the bar area?
Did you find the Thompson stash in yantar? Its failed to appear on 2 play-through's for me but apart from a few niggles I'm impressed with stability.

Edit: I've emailed the most advanced save game before A.W. [just about to do the Poker,hit] I've also included stash saves so you know where they are and UI files in case my hud alterations cause problems, hope it helps.

Wow, thanks a lot man.. will check it out later today.. you're a lifesaver! Yeah, I've had some troubles with that stash but ultimately managed to get it to work, same thing is when you don't carefully wait for the Private to fix the generator thingy in Yantar, quest can get bugged real easy. As for the Beehive thing, it's a quest that follows on after saving that doctor from the mercenaries in Darkscape.. you get those quests near the exit to the Army Warehouses and Rostok..actually, sort of inbetween those two exits, you run into some sick stalkers and a doc trying to cure them.

*edit* Holy crap you're a thorough player - I love it! Also great how you hid some stashes in actually hard to find places - I know that it's a singleplayer game and other stalkers will never steal your stuff, but I also really like to roleplay and try to actually HIDE my stuff, it's fantastic with GPS trackers how you can actually do this and fully hide a stash somewhere that NPC's would really have a hard time finding even if they DID try to search for it and steal your stuff.

I also took your hud changes gladly.. I messed around with some myself but couldn't get anything but the no-artifacts-showing-on-the-hud to work. Just one thing... I still get some distance counter and the time shown so that kinda looks ugly.. is there a way to delete ALL OF THAT? I mean, I can always look at the time and how far I'm from my objective by looking at the PDA map, would be great to just get rid of everything there

BTW maaan, some awesome gear.. where did you find the SCAR and the SCAT/Exo? I'm guessing the 2nd is from the military trader that I never bothered to look for in Agroprom? Me, I was running the game with a mix of a modded SVD and Digger's totally OP machinegun, but I really like the 60 round AK too, it's an all-round great weapon, shotgun is not even needed really. I see you didn't do a few quests I did, but in general you're almost at the same spot, just a lot richer than I was, haha! Thanks again for your great saves, really a big help!

Beehive - I remember now! How did you get to the Thompson stash, I tried every which way but failed and I've never worked out where Ghosts stash is, it shows on the Yantar map.
The only thing on my hud is health, ammo box bottom right and the clock top left, I cant get rid of the clock - distance counter? I think if you press numpad - the lot goes and + returns it.

I try to play in the sequence I think the author intends and hope that this minimises problem/failed quests.
SCAR was in a stash and became my favourite weapon, the SCATs from the military trader in agro, exo was on a body I think.

The Mil Armour for Lukash is in the LADA on the left as you exit the tunnel in Yantar - I found it on the way to X16

Aha, right! Yeah, I also completely missed the immortality quest in X18, but oh well. So, Thompson's stash, for me, was only reachable when you low crouch behind the big green box, I think.. I don't remember exactly, but I do know that it took me several tries.

As for Ghost, his stash is nearby his corpse in the lab.. in that room you go down and right to go to the tunnels. It's on the opposite side from the exit to the tunnels and opposite from Ghost's corpse, it's a very small backpack against a wall (I think!) in the second section on the left (you have 3 sections each side of the room - 1st and to the right is Ghost, 3rd to the right is the exit.. if I remember correctly in the 2nd section to the left is where his stash is - not 100% sure, but definitely around there somewhere, on that side).
 
Each word should be at least 3 characters long.
Search:    
Search conditions:    - spaces as AND    - spaces as OR
