Valid size of a texture

Hi,

I'm making a detail texture for a map. The terrain texture size is 2048 x 6144 (height x width).

I can't import it to level editor, it says: invalid size, can't make game texture. I resized it proportionally to smaller size, but didn't help, 1024 x 3072 was wrong, and the smaller too.

I tried to convert it directly from tga to dds (dxt1), and place the texture to SDK gamedata, but when i add it to the map as a detail base texture, it become distorted, the height is wrong, and doesn't match the terrain, doesn't match the roads etc., so i can't generate a proper grass coverage.

What are the criterions of the stalker texture sizes?

EDIT:
Ok, nevermind, i figured it out. It was not the texture size's fault, i thought, that the SDK resized my textures from the weird resolution to power of 2 resolution, but no. The terrain had some extra terrain object part, which made the detail texture to stretch out.
