Concepts for a Casual mod for a friend, the "SLACKER" mod?

Yes, I know the Idea of a casual-style STALKER is a sight for much stone throwing and anger but hear me out.

I have a friend who is relatively new to gaming (and is my unofficially adopted sister). I have another friend who is the run of the mill "Hardcore gamer" (comes from CoD and Fantasy RPG's) who played SoC until the Military base Documents mission and gave up because it was too hard.

Now, as I love STALKER and my Almost-Sister and she likes The thrill of fear (You know, the sort that likes horror movies), I half suggested playing SoC until I remembered my other friend who is a seasoned gamer and gave up so soon. I then thought of maybe making a mod that still keeps the game challenging, but simplifies it for the less-than hardcore.

Such features I was brainstorming:

- Quick(er) health regen. I know that would go against the notion of survival, but I thought of keeping bleeding. If you were bleeding, you wouldn't regenerate, and of course soon die. But you don't have to worry about Health kits, just bandages.
- No weapon condition. But all weapons will have a set jamming rate. Jamming is still in, but of course a bit more prominent but consistent across the board. Say, the AK based weapons will always have a good jamming rate but the LR300 and the L85 would jam more frequently, but all weapons are at 100 condition.
- Artifacts modified to be a bit more straight forward.
- Only 2 types of ammo per calibre.
- Bandages and other health items a little less weighty. I was considering making them and Ammo weightless, but that would take too much away from the survival aspect. As Artifacts are not vital, they can be weightless.
- More Auto-save points if possible (I know this would be a difficult one to script), perhaps similar to CoP with its incremental (am I using that term right?) saves. Alternatively, include the save system from the ZRP mod where everytime you use the special save command (cant remember what it was called or if it was clicked, been a while) it made a new unique save.
- UI tweaks, such as an onscreen clock, an easy to read map, maybe some text that tell the player what location they are in.
- Keep anomalies visible. That would be a no brainer for Casual gameplay....
- Give the PDA a few extra gameplay tips. maybe have a weapon tier guide that updates.
- Have the NPC's insult the player for being a noob. Though have some that will be helpful, but still say that they should play the vanilla game or another mod for the full experience.

these are just some random things I was thinking about today. I don't know if there is already a mod like this, but even if there was, and it isn't too much of a daunting task for an amateur modder like me(I did experiment with trying to make a mod that replaced all the Full-auto weapons with semi- auto variants bar a few exceptions. Didn't get off the ground because I forgot about it for a long period of time. Still want to do it sometime... sometime) it would be sometime I would like to do, or at least have a hand in.

Its not a guarantee that my friend will actually give STALKER a chance, but if she did, would anyone be willing to give me some pointers or help on this (or point me in the direction of something with the same goal)? Any thoughts or suggestions?

The little cosmetic things and Heavy scriping aren't too much of an important part. most of this is just concept at this point.

tl;dr I just voice my thoughts on a STALKER "SLACKER" mod (Super Lazy Ass Casual Esomething Rsomething mod) which aims to simplify stalker while retaining the atmosphere and still providing a challenge to a Casual.

ps. I do play STALKER normally and am not complaining. I am currently playing the SMP. I am not the best... but I do survive... most of the time. this would be a good way of teaching myself simple modding.

Most of what you suggest can be done by editing some of the .ltx and .xml files.

Making the anomalies always visible might be more work ... I don't know.

If they had a 'special anomoly detector' addon, that could be helpful.

As far as SoC is concerned you should use the 'Complete' mod, which fixes a whole-lotta-stuff.

(don't let the 2012 confuse you)

Also you should use guides and/or walkthroughs for help:

Thanks

Oh, and with regards to anomalies, I was referring to all the mods that made them invisible. The no brainer was not changing the vanilla status of them.
