Restoring some original features - (OL 2.2 related).
Hi there. I hope this is the right place for me the post, this seems to be the only active place left in the SoC modding community. I've modded in other games before, but not this one. I was hoping to ask a few what I'm sure will be entry-level questions to you guys.
I installed Oblivion Lost 2.2 a few days ago and I have been successfully tweaking the installation a little since. However, I've reached a point where I want to be certain what I'm doing won't break the game. One issue stands out in particular.
The OL2.2 modifies the camp guitarists into singing performers. I thought that was a little too much, if only because most of the tracks have a recorded feeling to them that I don't think meshes very well with the game at all. Some of the tracks are quite low quality as well and break immersion a little. I want them to play the old acoustic guitar tracks again.
From what I've seen there is two parts to this mod.
- erratic mouth movement while playing the guitar (singing)
- replaced or overridden music files
I do not know how to remove those mouth movements. Any tips?
I found out the music files were located in various directories under \gamedata\sounds\characters_voice\ and I have temporarily renamed the file extensions of those unwanted tracks to .bck as a backup.
I'm not sure at all if that's the way to do it. Is that the proper way to deal with this, or will this break other script that deal with the music routine?
IIRC the script just looks for any file named guitar_*.ogg in the appropriate folder and plays one at random. The mouth movement is just a generic animation used by all models for speaking, and irrelevant. Removing the unwanted guitar tracks should do the trick, though iirc you need to make sure the remaining files don't have any number gaps i.e. rename them so it's all guitar_1, guitar_2, guitar_3 rather than guitar_1, guitar_2, guitar_4 etc.
