Why are you reviving a 2 year old topic? :S

Who cares how old it is, it still contains useful info and saves multiple new threads all trying to re-invent the wheel when this stuff is allready known!

Nice idea, I would like a SDK wiki as well.

Nevertheless, since you people here are that active posters ( ), could we come back to my question rather than discussing topics that definitively are important but don't belong to this thread?

---QUOTATION---
Class hierarchy does nothing to do with NPCs choice of weapon.
By testing I did find 3 things that influence if and what weapon NPC choose to use:

1. ef_main_weapon_type (w_"weaponname".ltx).
2. ef_weapon_type (w_"weaponname".ltx).
3. worn out status of weapon.

---END QUOTATION---

Would that mean an NPC would take and use ANY assault rifle I give him, when its ef_main_weapon_type and ef_weapon_type value are the same as with the gun he had before, as long as it is completely NEW and his own weapon isn't?

In other words, can I force an NPC to use my completely new gun over his already used one (when both are of the same type / class)?

I could be wrong but I don't think that is the case; from what I remember when I tested it all they only take guns if they're more powerful than there own. That's to say if an NPC has a broken PM and you try and sell him a new one he won't equip it. If however you sell him a unique PM that is a lot more powerful, regardless of the condition he will equip it.

Prehaps weapons in the same class are compared using an average of their vlaues for accuracy and damage etc. Thats a possibility.

Also NPCs shouldn't care about weapon condition, if they have a weapon it is in full condition when they use it, the condition is generated when the npc is killed and drops the weapon.

He's probably referring to the fact you need an account to edit it, although doesn't realise anyone can register an account...

The introduction of BAK AI deals rather well with the NPCs deciding on the use of the best weapon, BUT only if these weapons are in their inventory.

If we take literally the title of the thread "pick up" is completely missing in Shoc. I can throw a ton of mint condition, fully loaded weapons at their feet, but they will not care about it.

CoP has solved this by forcing compulsive looting of the weapons that ShoC seems to lack. Probably, as a third addition to the AI improvements, we need a stripped down verson of looting mods, dealing only with items in the open, including weapons.
