If you ask me only game that needs this is Call of Pripyat, because it is very noticeable when you run, while in other two games i didnt notice that much grass pop-up.
For SoC, I personnaly set it to 201, it's a good compromise between graphics and fps. I think more is useless, as there's already so little levels that benefit from it (the first ones)
I believe for CoP a greater distance is needed because of the huge lanscape. Fps should go down drastically though.
