Xray Engine and SDK on Linux???
Hello guys,
I don't use Linux now. As a lot of people, i'm using win7 64bits.
But i would like to know two things:
Could we transfert SDK and all modding tools on Linux?
Is it lawful?
Today, i found a french tutorial about how start Stalker SoC on Linux. This allows to obtain around 300fps.
This doesn't interest me.
But as you know, LevelEditor is a very cumbersome program. We need to restart it frequently.
If Linux increase Xray engine capacity, i hope that is the same thing with LevelEditor.exe, converter.exe, xrlc.exe and xrai.exe.
So, there is someone who is using Linux here? Is it lawful?
When i said SDK or xray engine on linux, i said that is for a personal use, not for distribution ofc.
Thanks for your attention.
I'm waiting your answers.

Hello guys,
I don't use Ford-T now. As a lot of people, i'm using a Ferrari.
But i would like to know two things:
1- Could we travel on a Ford-T and still driving a Ferrari?
2 - Is it strange?
Today, i downloaded a torrent tutorial (made in Mars, but legal) that shows how to pretend Fort-T is better than a Ferrari. This allows us to obtain around 300 MPH... inside of a garage.
This doesn't interest me.
OMG... sorry Borovos91. I am just messing around with you mate. But why Linux... i mean i can try to run Crysis2 Editor in my Xbox360... or maybe ZXspectrum. Linux is obsolete... and Stalker SDK sucks. It's a waste of time mate. You have maybe 16 GB ram, on Win7 64... and you want linux? It's like that guy... he has a Ferrari... but likes the Ford-T more... cause he gets 300 MPH... in the garage.
Warning: Any similarity to Borovos91's Post is not purely coincidental. That's just the way it is.

@insanelazarez, you're really crazy! But i like it.
Ok. I understand your words. I'll not lose my time with that.
As i said, i don't use Linux and I know nothing about it.
It was a question and i obtain a good answer. Thanks you guy!
@Meltac:
"It's still the same bundled pile of crap." I asked, now, i know. It's bad. I hoped that it's a good way.
@Kocayine:
We can not start SDK just on win7, it need a compatiblity tool kit to start it as with Win XP SP2.
So, SDK is a old programm and it slown done after 20-25 minutes. Or it doesn't start if the rawdata contain too much objects.
For example, when i work on aimap of a big level, i need to restart LevelEditor every 10-15 minutes.
So, it's blown:
start LE, open map, work, slow motion, save my work, restart LE, open my map, work few minutes ..........and i'm going crazy.
To finish, in France, we don't have Ford T, we run with this one, a gorgeous "2CV" :

Oh jeez. This thread is a goldmine of silliness.
Well, first off. chances are you could run the X-Ray SDK in Linux if you use WINE. No guarantees about stability, but if STALKER itself runs, the LevelEditor should. Give it a shot, what's the worst that will happen?
Second, Linux is NOT 'obsolete', lol. If anything, Windows is the obsolete OS. Windows is the one that's based on a hacked up Windows NT based kernel, and internally is just a mess. Not to mention the outdated file system, and craploads of legacy applications that no-one even uses still existing in Windows 7 and 8.
Linux has constantly evolved since its inception..Why else do you think its used in phones, routers, servers, TVs, supercomputers, and even desktops and laptops around the world? Its flexible, powerful, secure, and is constantly being worked on by large communities. |
