Making .OGM files for main menu videos

Hey guys,

Does anyone have any recommendations for creating .OGM files? I read a tutorial for SoC using VirtualDub, but it consistently crashes for me with 32 or 64bit versions.

Any ideas? I would love to try making new videos for the main menu.

If VirtualDub is a old tool, maybe could you use the window compatibility tools like for SDK?
And install a patch for win XP SP2?

I used it for SDK and other old programm.

IIRC - you have to use a very old build of the tool, the newer updates dont work correctly with x-ray for whatever reason. I don't rememeber the version number, but I know I have it archived somewhere on my rig. If you need it, or have a hard time finding a download of it, let me know. It's a fairly simple tool to use. It took me ages to figure out what I was doing wrong with splitting the vids, lol

No PITA

Get ffmpeg2theora-0.16:

http://v2v.cc/~j/ffmpeg2theora/ffmpeg2theora-0.16.exe
http://lists.xiph.org/pipermail/theora-dev/2006-February/002944.html

... and use this kind of command:
(example)
ffmpeg2theora-0.16 -v 10 -x 512 -y 288 inputmovie.avi -o outputmovie.ogm

explanation:
ffmpeg2theora-0.16.exe -v 10 (sets quality to max) -x 512 (width in pixels) -y 288 (height in pixels) inputmovie.avi -o outputmovie.ogm
