Make them to be scaring like in Indiana Jones - hissing, staying up and widening the head (i dont't know how to say it in english but I hope you know wha I mean - the cobra style), opening the jaws and frightening you before they bite. The same should concern the rats.
---END QUOTATION---

Ok, I admit I cut a bit of it out but it would be so fun with poisonspitting rats on their hindlegs.

Ambient wildlife is a great idea, and there is no reason it shouldn't be implemented. At least beyond the birds we have seen.
---END QUOTATION---

Yes I agree. Ambient life gives the sensation of the zone living its own life. It is something different than real enemies. It would be quite climatic to hear some noise in a bush at night! What was that? Should I check it? Was it something big or just a rabbit? Good idea. Even if you encounter a snake it won't bite you if you don't tread on him. It is just an animal.... It has to behave like an animal. It will just slide to nearest hole in a wall or something but you will be scared enough and carefull because if there is some more of them and you will not be carefull enough... In a narrow dark corridor it is not very nice thing to walk through the snakes even thou they dont plan how to surround you and kill (the same way as they don't talk about last seen movie ) Make them to be scaring like in Indiana Jones - hissing, staying up and widening the head (i dont't know how to say it in english but I hope you know wha I mean - the cobra style), opening the jaws and frightening you before they bite. Just an animal life form.
The same should concern the rats.

I would be more worried controller if it was your idea of a good time.

Ok, putting aside the huge argument. Snakes and spiders SHOULD still be part of the zone. They would be there, well maybe not snakes but it is ment to be autum and some snakes might be out. They don't have to be deadly at all if you don't want them to be but not all creatures in the zone would be a threat to people and wildlife would still exist in there.

What you are scared in real life is not what you are scared in a game. Huge or smal spiders or rats are not a good idea as your oponents. Heve you ever seen any hero fighting with big spider? (instead of a class C movie). The only way it can be implemented is how it was done in Indiana Jones series - a room filled with thousands of such slowly mooving snakes.... But not snakes fighting with you (not saying about them thinking and planning - like ratwolves planned by the crew)

Yes i did see some of the concept art and it is freaky. However i dont think that a person who feels nothing about zombies but is scared to death of spiders would enjoy it a lot when he has a 20 foot spider chasing him.

Making a game scary is one thing. Building it off peoples primary fears is another.

Why not, a lot of other games have used primary fears already!!

It how it's used in content is what matters!!
---END QUOTATION---

Well i for one amd scared to death over spiders. I hate those little bastards. Walking into a giant cobweb and being attacked by a giant spider is not my idea of a good time.
